After more than 3 weeks and $168 I finally got my cyl head back. The thing had 4 bent valves, one burnt valve, and a messed up valve guide. The rings were getting a little worn(massive blow-by, oil blowing out the dipstick tube anytime you boosted), and the tranny was without 1st gear. Sad part is it was still faster than my old 97 esi. If anybody cares i can try to post some pictures of the new 93 TSI AWD. It looks like crap, but I picked it up for $750 with a 6 bolt in it, so I'm not complaining. I rebuilt the tranny and am putting the engine back together right now after rebuilding it. I hope to have it running by the end of next weekend. ok well i'll stop rambling now. Now that I think of it, what method do you guys use for breaking in the 4g63 engine? Any special things I should look for other than the obvious? Thanks in advance.

93 Tsi AWD-SAFC I, Apexi N1 turbo back, MBC, K&N w/ hacked can,
Walbro 255, Accel wires, 650cc injectors, stage 3 dsmchip

97 Neon ACR-Stock

Pics please. Get rid of the 2gnt sig and put the real car in there. LOL

Breaking in the engine, and how I'm going to do it is from the Hayne's Manual and also, Martin who started Taboo speed shop.

I'm not going to baby it. Actually do a search on Talk for engine break in and you'll find a thread that outlines how to break it in, as does the Hayne's manual in the beginning. I preface all this witht he fact that there are tow school of thought. Baby it for 50-0 miles staying out of boost, and get right on it doing controlled full throttle pull and letting the engine speed up and slow down slowly for a period of about an hour or so. I will be following the latter. Do research and try what you feel most comfortable with.

Here are two threads I think might help if you wanna try the aggressive break in.
