I screwd my motor when my balance shaft went crazy, it ate a hole out in my block. Can I use a block off plate or do I need a new core? I found a 2g with a spun rod bearing for $75. I want to use my rotating assembly since i have forged pistons and cryo-shotpeened old 1g rods. Will my stuff bolt in, if not what do you guys think is the best way to go?

What car do you currently have? Is it a 6 bolt? You should really look for another 6 bolt block rather than a 7. Typically the 6 bolt is more reliable for at least one good reason.

You can't patch or use a block-off plate on a block with a hole in it. Just get a new block.

dude,I feel your pain, I destroyed my 7 bolt block with a walkin balance belt so went 6 bolt, complete jdm engine was 1300 and for 950, I had it completely tore down, all new gaskets installed, new tensioner, new belts, used the 1.6l mitsu mirage case to eliminate the balance shafts, reassembled and installed in the engine...I'm happy. OR you can go a much cheaper route. Since you know your block is screwed....(to make it easy) cut your timing belt....pull your head with the intake/exhaust manifold still attatched...get a used 6 bolt shortblock...have it honed/balanced...use new gaskets and reassemble. there ya go and only about 500 bux for block and for your assorted gaskets
