#10249, "I need a new intake mani gasket... couple Q's..."

Tomorrow im gunna install a new intake manifold gasket on my 98 gst. Ive never taken off the intake manifold with the head still on? Is is a PITA? I have a vaccum leak from the gasket on my #4 cylinder. Is this at all dangerous? When I install the new gasket should i put RTV sealant on it? My idle surges to about 1500 everyonce and awhile, is this because of the vaccum leak? any help is appreciated. -Brian

Make sure you take all the bolts off around the runners (11 maybe in all?) and also disconnect the knock sensor and remove the support bracket from under the Intake Mani. It has one bolt on the block way down, and two on the intake mani on the under side. All the fun vacuum hoses need to be removed obvioulsy and also the plug wires from the coil, or the coil itself.

RTV the mani and the head when you apply the gasket. Good luck.

It's running again shitheads.
