#8168, "inconsistent boost"

hey all

Ever since i've taken the car to missouri, my boost levels have been wildly inconsistent. I did a compression test about 2 months ago and it was perfect. Its hotter than hell here and very humid, btw.

I'm going to check for boost leaks as soon as I get a chance, but i still don't see how that can explain the occilation of my boost. for example...some days it goes up/down back forth for a few pulls, like i have the gain set too high on the ebc (its a greddy profec b II) Other days it only makes like 8 psi at WOT, and occasionally i can get it to 15 psi at partial throttle. And some days, nothing is wrong at all..

I checked all the hoses, especially those going to/from the boost control solenoid, and also checked those going into/around the afpr. If I turn up the boost substantially, I can get an increase in boost pressure overall, but its still erratic and inconsistent. Besides leaks, what shoudl I check for? and wouldn't leaks be more consistent?

Is the profec toasted??
maybe try a manual boost controller or just hook the line right to the wastegate for a few days to see if thats the problem.

good idea..i've never heard of a profec getting "toasted", but in this heat i'd believe it in a heartbeat.

Any chance the turbo is on its way out? Or would it be simply pushing less boost overall?
