i'm looking into getting a BOV and yes i want one that makes cool noises. LOL. anyway where is a good place to get a deal on the piping and BOV together? i know machv and RRE has them but if i get the pipe and BOV that goes to the atmosphere what do i do about the opening in the intake pipe the BOV used to dump into?

You could get a new hard intake pipe from dejon tools or just "cap off" the hole on the stock one.
Don't vent unless you have VPC or MAFT setup.

As Tony said. If you just want a BOV that sounds cool and scares the kids, get a TurboXS blow off valve. They don't recirculate and are ridiculously loud (and expensive). My personal opinion is to avoid BOV's like that as they draw unwanted attention to you that will wear on you after time. Racing fart-cannoned ricers gets old after about a week, so I would reccomend a normal 1g BOV or Type-S, and if you are feeling rich, a Tial.

is there a good way to not recirculate your air if you have the fuel system we do. i dont want stand alone nor do i want to run a little bit lean. would an safc correct it if i add a little bit of fuel to the mixture when using a BOV?

Are you talking about venting in your 1g? The only way to do that is with a VPC or the GM MAF conversion (which puts the air sensor after the turbo which allows you to vent to the atmosphere since air lost at the BOV isn't counted in the system).

Venting is a waste of time unless you have the mods to do so, or are using an automatic.

i have a roadrace upper intercooler pipe and it's flanged for my type-s. i like my setup. before it was stock UICP with TurboXS Type-H RFL Bov that vented to atmosphere. sounded ok but i like how the type-s sounds much better. Also venting to atmosphere is bad.

if you're really set on the pssht sound get a type S....you'll personally enjoy the sound when you drive, the ricer stuff gets old with the louder ones, and a tial doesn't make girls want you any more....

what are the specifics on the gm maf conversion. never heard of it. vpc=too much money. what mods do you speak of to make it purposefull(sp). and why an auto better than m/t in your example?

#1 Venting isn't a problem in an AT, it's just possible. You can do it without the standard negative effects. The throttle plate never fully closes in an auto so the effects of going to neutral and having the car go "back to idle" between shifts isn't there so venting isn't as big a problem like in a MT. That being said, it still isn't the best idea as you'll run rich regardless as you do lose some metered air when it blows off which means a rich condition still. But it's not as pronounced as with MT. I'd still recirculate no matter what but that's just me.

#2 The GM MAF conversion is something that has come out within the last 8 months or so that allows you to use the very high count air flow meters from GM LS1's in a DSM by using a MAF translator that converts the GM hardware to be compatible to DSM electronics. In doing so, you can place the MAF in the mormal position (draw-through) where you still can't vent because air is counted before the BOV, but the setup I have is (blow through) where the air sensor is placed in the IC piping just before the throttle body. What this does is count the air an instant before it goes into the engine after air has escaped the BOV which in turn allows venting and a much simpler setup via a hard intake pipe. In this case the lost air of the BOV doesn't matter since it hasn't been counted yet.

The GM MAF has much greater capacity than even the 2g MAS and allows for more customization. That being said, it's really not a beginning mod and comes with more of a in depth setup. I went to GM MAF after getting my IRC FMIC and 60-1 BB Turbo which meant I needed the hardware to count that much more air eventually once everything was tuned.

sweet. i can see it as something i will do sooner or later. are there any walkthroughs available yet or any other in depth knowledge sights around here? my car will probly turn into a track beast/weekend driver anyways. i will always drive it on the street regardless though.
