#9956, "the best e-savings account?"
May-30-06 02:36 PM by ez

Hey guys, I want to open an online e-savings account. I heard from somewhere that there was a site online that had the highest %APY rate of any bank. I'm doing a quick google search, and see some e-savings with citybank @ 4.75% APY that includes a ATM debit card. HSBC is 4.65, but seems to have no fees or miniums. Anyone know of higher available rates? I'm looking for FDIC insured institutions (without a lot of real-estate exposure would be a plus)

With my student loans being at lower rates than savings accounts, it actually is best for me to keep money in the bank, and use the interest paid on the loans for tax purposes. The up-and-coming inflation monster in the U.S. will hopefully erode the value of my loans anyway.

Check the interest rates of CD's at your local savings bank. If you don't plan on using it for a little while. My dad just put in some money he got from the sale of his house at 5.75% for 5 months. Then you can just look around for another bank with high interest and roll it over.

ING is most likely the best you'll find.

thanks guys. I'm setting up an account with HSBC. no fees, no minimums, and 4.65% APY. citybank has a slightly higher int. rate but fees would more than offset the .1% difference.

I have an ING account and love it. I opened it with $1000 6 years ago and have almost doubled since.
