You know, the whole time I was watching this I was thinking things like, I haven't built an engine in a while; man I miss building engines; and, you know, I have an oil leak that I can't seem to find, I bet a rebuild would cure that! Thanks for making me feel the need to take on another expensive project I can't afford and my girlfriend will kill me for!

Rebuilding an engine isn't rocket science, just buy a spare engine, take notes as you tear it down, then follow your notes and the manuals' spec's when you put it back together. How do you think 99% of the guys on here that have built an engine learned how to do it emoji Go for it man, it's fun, you'll learn a lot about your car, and you'll feel great about yourself in the end.

BTW; every engine you rebuild adds an inch to your schlong, thats why I had to plumb warm water into the toilet bowl at my house emoji

I would never use my tq wrench to turn main/head stud nuts 90 degrees.

Doesn't this apply ONLY to torque yeild bolts and not stud kits?

I torqued my head studs 90 degrees, because I was told to follow the manufacturers instructions. So I don't know about that one. emoji

I'm just saying I wouldn't have used my torque wrench to do it.

If you're talking about ARP head studs, then NO you DON'T turn them 90*. They have a very exact torque specification that comes with the studs. If you're unsure, call ARP.

The stock torque specs and quarter-turn thing is for TTY (torque to yield) bolts that are designed to stretch, like our stock head bolts.

I'm pretty sure I could do that on a 420a. It took me about 8 hours to build my VQ35DE for the Z, but it was my first time and I was going super slow heh.
