Hey fellas. I have some downtime to kill, which is a rarity. Still in Afghanistan. It's sizzling hot, mountainous and been a shooting gallery for the last couple of weeks. So far they've missed me everytine. Though an rpg landed very close. I can't go into details about what I do here, but some of you know that I am infantry. So the rest of you an take a wild guess as to what I do. We're at 4700ft above sea level and with the 50ibs of gear on me, going up mountains....sometimes you'd rather be dead. What's it like here? Well when bullets fly and explosions go off, it's surreal. All those vidoes and movies you see about war and firefights, nothing hollywood about it. I'm doing fine. I miss the comforts of home and normalcy. I thought my first deployment was bad. There is nothing safe about this country. 2nd day in country, my squad made contact. 8 and a half hours ahead of the east coast. Don't ask me about the half hour, cuz even I don't get it. I sure miss this site and some of you guys. If you ever want to see some pics and videos I have it posted in myspace. Look for SSG Roeun if you want to peer into my life. Til next time gents.
