#9247, "GS-T"

So yesterday i was sleeping (at 3:00 in the afternoon... late night before, but anyways) my buddy bill calls and wakes me up to tell me he just bought a new car. He tells me get ur ass dressed and come outside. I throw some clothes on, walk outside, and theres a purple GS-T sitting in my drive with these 2 other guys. I said "Cool... a GS-T. Good job." Then he said lets take it for a drive. I walked towards the passenger seat and he said no man, ur driving. I said hey sure got in and we were off. Drove to my stop sign on my street not hitting boost... then he tells me arent u even going to test it? this is ur change to DRIVE this thing. So i did... i dont know what this thing was running but i liked it :-D.

When i got back, he told me that he was lying and that he didnt buy that car... that the two guys who were at my house were trying to sell it for $9,000 and he wanted to see if i was interested. He had been working, saw the for sale sign, talked them into doing this whole act and convinced them id be interested in it. 97 GST, 82k, 5spd...

i want a gs-t so badly now. Either way, 420a or a 4g63, i want it.

If your going to get a 4g63, get a GSX... Otherwise you have no advantage over a built turbo 420a, and for the cost of that you could get a 420a, build it and turbo it.

thats why id rather just see this car turbo than drive that GS-T. At least i know what ive replaced/problems and where this car has been...

considering there isnt much i know, i hear theres some group of guys that always meet behind this old abandoned ford car place. I been there a few times, they all show their cars... evo's supercharged s2000, supras, lots more... another 2gnt there. I hear they have some thing where they like to help BANME!s like myself get the mods they want done for a small price. Ive been trying to read up alot into going turbo and i dont think im getting it 100% so im trying to find someone near me who has one so they can just help me and show me what exactly to get and things like that for running a 7psi daily driver.

i read in another post that u can just use an FMU for 7psi and it should be fine and that i dont need things like a wideband and Mega Squirt... but i ask such stupid questions that i dont feel like posting anymore cuz i just get flamed. So im trying to just read as much as i can to understand things more rather than asking questions.

hahaha We all have gone through that stage, of getting flamed for asking questions... soon you will come out the other side, though, and in the raaare case something happens that you can't find the solution to in the search, people will be glad to help

I've yet to see a running GSX sell for anywhere near 6k. They are still running for 12k+ up here in the chicago area, and the cheapest I ever saw a decent one was 8 or 9k

My opinion is its a much better learning experience to turbo a 420a then it is to buy a gst/gsx, and you can have a lot more pride in knowing that car is fast because you made it fast.

Around here (New England), stock GSX's go about the following:

'95-96 - $3500-$6000

'97 - $5000-$8000

'98-'99 - $7000-$12000

All depending on condition and mileage. I bought my stock '95 Talon AWD for $2900 and all it needed was an altenator...(but it does have 176,000 on the old 7-bolt emoji )

'95 GSX - New motor/turbo going in...
'95 TSi AWD - For sale...buy me!
'03.5 MazdaSpeed Protege - Stock daily driver
'97 CBR 600 - Purple is a real man's color

What do you mean yeah right? They're at least 8 year old cars with high mileage and half the time they're probably modded and/or beaten to hell. I'd say $4k and $6k are just about right.

It depends on the area. Like EclipseSix said, up here in the chicago area there extremely expensive. I got my 99 for $10k almost 3 years ago with 58k miles... I looked at a 98 GS-T with 52k miles on it and the dealer wanted $17k for it!!! It ended up selling for $13k I believe. I also found a 97 GSX that had 109k miles and they wanted $12k for it.

A 97 GST/82k/5 speed is not going to go for $4k, sorry.

I guess I meant more what it's actually worth rather than what it's going for. Anybody paying that much for a GS-T is out of their fucking mind.

Why isn't it worth more than $4k? High mileage means nothing to me, you can keep an engine running forever if you take care of it(and 82k isn't even high for a 97, average comes out to 135k). Age has nothing to do with it, SO many cars out there are older and bring in way more money. They are fun while stock and leave you with so much potential. They have the options newer cars do, and still look better than most.

Oh well, this is a dumb arguement, they are going for what they are going for, and this conversation isn't going to change that.
