#9195, "100 pounds of boost....LMAO!"

So there I was, getting my tire mounted at NTB because the newby ass oil changers at work couldn't help me to do it myself. They were balancing the wheel and he goes ahead and bills me out. He asks, so what kind of car is this going on? I tell him my 98 Eclipse. He then tells me that he wants to get an s2000 so I'm like, well thats cool, they're ok cars. He says, Yea I don't know though. Me and 2 seater Honduhs don't have the best track record. I flipped a del sol and blew up a crx. So I'm thinking, ok learn how to drive. Then he says if he can't find an s2000 he wants a twin turbo mr2. emoji Maybe that was just a slip of the tounge, so I let it slide. Then he says his friend has an eclipse with a t3 turbo, new injectors, and an intercooler. Well that's pretty cool. He then says, yea, he's planning on running about 100 pounds of boost, so that thing should fly.

............then I just grabbed my wheel and calmly rolled it out the door before I laughed uncontrollably in his face. Anybody ever run into that situation where the person you were talking to tried to act like they new what they were talking about, but really didn't? What did you do?

I was talking to some kid who got a 97 stang gt convertable for his b-day. (at a party) I was walking past his car and saw a dual pillar, peeked in the window and he had 2 boost gauges. One was a 20hg-20psi and the other was a apc bar style one. I though "wtf?" and started to walk away and the kid was right there and said "like what you see?" So we started to bull shit and he was tell me how its a 97 w/ 180k and has a wine in the rear. I told him that its normal for that to happen at high miles.... long story short his plan was after he got the rear fixed to get a cam and a supercharge. I asked him what kind of hedders he was going to get(kinda pointless to get a cam if the exaust cant flow better) he said non, then I asked how much boost he was going to run and he said that his one gauge only went up to 20, so he was going to keep it around their untill he got a bigger gauge.

By the time I read this line I was laughing hard. I can just picture you rolling your tire with a big smile on your face.

Something similar happened to me a few months ago. Some guy at a quick-check comes in saying his turbo mirage beat an eclipse GSX-T the night before. So I tell him you must mean GSX and he tells me no it was the GSX model but turbo. emoji

Theres a guy at work who drives a 92 stealth base model. Hes constantly saying how fast "our" cars are. And how well "our" cars handle. One of these days i'm going to snap, and let him know that "our" cars share nothing, but the same body. Then i told him i ran a high 12 1/4 mile, he tells me he hopes to run a 13.5, with an udp, and a welded on flowmaster exhaust w/ tip lol. He swears the UDP added 45 hp to the wheels. emoji

yeah, before you go mouthing off (kinda a habit for you isnt it?) why dont ya check your facts. my buddy is running a stock turbo on his 04 CTD and he can regularly peg the gauge at 32-35psi. 50 is DEFFINATLEY not out of the question.

I HATE that, it happens so often in the stealth, people see the twin turbo badge on the side so they want a peice, but they wont let you know that theyre racing, it'll turn green and they just floor it. But it doesnt take any more than about 3 seconds to catch up and fly by lol. I love shifting right as i fly by theyre window.

haha while i have no idea on why he would be running oil lines through doors...there is a turbo setup where people have the turbo all the way back at the rear axle crossmember. its highly ineffecient due to heat loss, but iv heard of a couple cases.

i had a kid that lived above me in college who started talking to me about his old talon (1g 1.8) that he dropped a factory TT GSX engine from a 2g into. thankfully i havent run into too many idiots

I almost had a store cleark at walgreens jump over the counter at me cause i told him he was full of S#%^ when he told me his 2g turbo eclipse came stock with a twin turbo set up because it was a 95 and in 95 they did that. He than proceeded to take me outside and pop his hood and point out both turbo's to prove he know what he was talking about and i was just an idiot without a clue. when he poped his hood he points to the turbine housing and says see theres one and than points to the compressor housing and says and theres the second so ha.
i just shook my head and walked away. what was i sappose to do? i mean its sad how dumb some people really are! kinda like the mitsubishi tech at the dealer trying to tell me that the 2g came with a 4g63 turbo 2.0, a 420a 2.0 and a 4g64 3.0 v-6?? i was like no the v6 only came into play in 2000+ he was like look im not gonna argue with you i work here and probably work on 2-3 95-99 eclipses with the v-6 in them a day, at that point i knew i would never goto the dealer for ANYTHING again!

What's really funny is how easy Mitsu made it to distinguish motors...

4 is for 4 cyl
G ig for gas
6 is the series
3 is cause it's got 3 turbos (just seeing if you were paying attention!)

The 3.0 v6 is the 6g72...what a douche emoji

sts turbo kits, your right they do suck, mostly becuase the air filter is under the car also.

I understand why you might believe they suck...granted...

but have you ever once been in a car with an sts turbo kit? still boogies man. except maybe the integra kit, thats just wack.

Met this guy w/ an Accord that heard I had my VR4 and said he had a 3.2 swap out of a CL Type S. I figured anything could be done so maybe it was true but then he said it was twin turbo w/ upgraded T-88 turbo's and I asked how much he put down. He said it went from the stock 260HP to about 350HP. I was like "man that's awesome, your car is sweet." followed by "just kidding, you're a dumbass."

well i dont know TONS like you guys, but i learn each time i drop by.

heres m two:

1. Had just gotten my RS and it wasnt running, so i went to the dealer. Asked when i could tow my car in to take a look. they took my info and said "man those cars are trouble they get CW ALL the time, ur prolly screwed son..." i got scared and belived it until i started reading here.

2. Out of school i walk by a wheel shop on my way to the trolley, so i see some MR7 rims and say "hey nice, ill se how much they runs here" so i go to the cleark, and ask him: hello, i was wondering how much a set of gunmetal mr7's in 18 would cost me with you guys?" he says "what kind of car?" i say 1995 mitsubishi eclipse. he says "they are ####, but they dont fit, i HAVE an eclipse..." at this point i didnt feel like arguing so i say "oh ok..." well how about just some 225/40/18s then? and he goes "man i TOLD YOU they wont fit, i tried it on mine..." like the original poster (cept i didnt GET a wheel) i just walked out and laughed.

At a local shop meet a couple of weeks ago I over heard a guy talking about his 420A, so I’m like sweet, I’ll shoot the shit with him for a bit. I told him what I have and he says “Yeah, the 420A is a far superior engine to the 4G63” I reply “Yeah the 420A is a nice motor with a lot of potential” not wanting to get in a huge endless debate that I have no right getting into anyway, because I have very little knowledge of the 4g63. Apples to Oranges anyway.

Then this guy continues on and say, “yeah I have a 1G turbo that the oil pump seized and through the timing belt. I replace the pump and put a new timing belt on and the damn thing still doesn’t run right.”

I just walked away at that point, I wasn’t going to get into the intricacies of oil starvation and interference engines. When he ruins his 420a in a similar fashion he’ll give up on DSMs.

i always see kids that ask if my car is turbo, and say they wont beat me, then they say they used to have a cavalier and beat mustangs with it, and there current car (a 240 or honda) has a turbo kit waiting for them that hasnt been installed yet. no idea how much boost, what turbo, tube fin/bar plate, etc. more concerned about rivets on the jdm sideskirt coming off
