#8960, "How much do you pay for rent?"

I was just reading and a guy posted that he was paying 380 or omethign similar for rent and I am extremly curious.

I am searching for a place for my wife and I. I'm TRYING to find a one bedroom under $1400/m been 3 months and no luck.

This is in Santa Barbara, CA.

Then: $780/month for 2BD/2BA apt - Rent was going to jump to $1100/mo upon renewal. This was in Scottsdale, AZ.

Now: $1100/month (I pay $450 of it in a 3-way split including utilities) for 4BD/2BA/2CG across the street from run4cvr (2GNTer/best friend/drinking buddy). This is in north Phoenix, AZ.

Considering SLC or HOU come spring. We'll see.

EDIT:
The garage is all mine, too.

You can't find a 1 bedroom apt. for under 1400 a month??? That's the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard of. Try going to South Central LA. I hear Compton and Watts has good price's on apartments. LOL

I could live like a king around here for 1400 a month. Just move to Nashville and you can get a nice 2-3 bedroom apt. for like, 750+ a month.

My sis has a house in scotty.
Next time we (wife and I) come out B we need to hit it up.
We'll be out in the next month or so. It'd be nice to finally meet/chill.

And yes it is crazy, have a family to think about now... It's time to bail.

Thinking about st. george or az
maybe other places around ca.

I'm down. Going to be in Vegas in two weeks, then San Dimas the weekend after that, but otherwise, I'm free with some notice.

"St. George?" Is that in Utah? I was on this website this past weekend called findyourspot.com and... shit. I'll make another thread. emoji

up here in Calgary we pay $1600/month for a four bedroom house in a shitty neighborhood. To actually buy a house, in a 40 year old neighborhood with 40 year old houses, is just over $1 million for a 2400sq foot house. That is the definition of an out-of-control real estate market.

Right now I pay $0... but I've been looking around and I can't find a half way nice (not-so ghetto) place for under $700 a month.. that's 1br/1ba. Keep in mind there are about 3 large Universities here and 3 or more decent sized colleges. So it's pretty much the definition of a college town.

Damn. You can pick up a cheap apartment here in Baton Rouge for $550/month that is 2 bedroom and 1150 sq ft. House prices have been going up here but if you shop around you can buy a 2000 sq ft house for less than 150K.

renting is for suckers...buy if you can.

My condo is a gorified 2 bedroom 2 full bath apartment. My mortage is $575 and association is $175. When I close on it's sale on june first it basically works out that I live here for free for 4 yrs. I acepted a looooow ball offer for a quick sale too. Couldn't have been better timing though, I'm getting married june 11th so it'll be nice to be out of here. I should have a enough equity to bulid myself a nice poll barn at my furture home (fiancee's) There the mortage is just under 900 for a bi-leval ranch w/ 2 car garage on a 1 acre lot.

Rent is the same here in the Washington DC area. I still live at home still cause it's so expensive. I know people spending over 1000 for renting a one bed. apt. Most 2 BR's are 1300-1500 in a decent area. House are even crazier. No way you can get anything respectable for under 300K and most townhouses are over 500K. I think about moving all the time so I can buy a house in an area I can actually afford to live in but we shall see if I ever get the balls to leave. I have lived in this city my whole life. Hard to leave.

yea, Santa Barbara is one of the most unafforadble areas period. I believe America is trying to create an aristocratic system again. The median priced home in santa barabara is over $1 million. There is no room for a middle class there anymore.

There is PLENTY of developal land. But all the rich and all the lawmakers do their best from allowing us to build more homes there, by creating all those NIMBY laws.

The california housing market will start accelerating it's downward crash this year and 2007 (two trillion dollars worth of adjustable rate mortgages starting to flip to next higher interest rate this year and next).

I'm hoping to be working in oceanside this month. Some nice places rent for 850-1100/mo for a 1 bedroom.

I pay 645/m for a 3bd 2 bath apt here in Dalton GA. In florida, before we moved we were paying 850/m for a 3 converted to a 4 bd 2 bath house. When we moved out the landlord was gonna jump the rent to 1350/m cause of the influx of people comming in from Louisanna. I was pretty pissed that someone could do that, I wouldnt only cause I have been though it and what pisses me off even more, we got no damage whatsoever from all of the hurricanes. Bummer IMO
