#7912, "I finally figured out how to stick it to Cingular"

Back in August I picked up a Blue Angel (PDA/phone) and I was reading around that it was possible to use it for internet access via USB. Last year I tried to figure it out but the drivers were messed up or something so I gave up.

Last night I decided to give it another try and I got it to work! It's slow as all hell, like 60kbts with a really bad ping of 600-800 average, but it's GPRS so what do you expect... At least now I am able to stick it to them and make use of my unlimited GPRS data plan.

Anyone else using their cell phone for internet access?

With Motorola Phone Tools silly emoji

I can plug the phone into the laptop via bluetooth (or usb) and use phone tools to connect with the razr's modem. I forget what I connected at....like 11Kbps or something but it loaded 2gnt and I was browsing around no problem emoji

I only use it when I can't steal someone elses connection though emoji

Yup, I use Cingular too and have unlimited GPRS usage as well. I use a SE P910. Great for surfing on the go, can also connect to a pc/laptop thru bluetooth/usb. I was surfing at speeds around 115kbps when I connected my phone to the laptop. The settings ^^^ up there seem to be correct AFAIK.

Most of the Cingular reps that you speak to are brain dead. I hated working there. Check www.howardforums.com and see if someone else has already done it. Otherwise, I can send you all the phone setup info you need. I still have a few contacts that work for Cingular that have a pulse.
