I started working for this company two days ago as a mechanic and fabricator, needless to say its pretty nuts. We deal with high high high end offshore boats, i'll be wrenching on the owner of the UFC's boat tomorrow. Motors pictured make 1200hp. Each boat we have has two engines. My project today was replacing all the valve springs on two 850hp blown 454's...not a bad gig.

its tight as hell in the engine bays because they always have more than one. so i'm always finding myself like upside down and shit. one boat we have now for sonance has two viper v10's with about 630hp each, theyre way nice

love my job, enjoy the pictures

edit: yea, we have big fuckin ass blown motors like all over the place

My buddy's got a v-drive with a 454 on it. It's so fuckin fast that it gets airboarn here and there and aerates the prop. Of course, it's a small 2-seater, not like those big fuckers.

Torque owns on the water.

Watching those things move across the water is unbelievable. A couple of summers ago I was out on Lake Mead, Navada and I saw a tunnel hull that looked similar to those. May have been a fountain? Anyway, it was cruising across the lake and it was putting up a rooster tail that was at least 100+ ft long and I asked my friend if that effect was like on a Yamaha waverunner that has a little nozzle on the back to shoot water strait up into the air and he said no, the props are actually moving that much water. Congrats on the job man.

Moneypit-I have a Four Winns that can throw a rooster tail like that. It has more to do with where the trim is set than it does with the amount of water being thrown. When the prop is up it will happen.

Either way its cool as hell. Just to clarify, is it like a stabilizer on the rudder or something that makes it do that? The way I see it, when the motor is up, the stabilizer is pointing downward and the water hits it and gets deflected up into the air. Correct? Oh, and got any pics of your boat?

Sorry to get off topic but turby, your new job looks like it would be a lot of fun and congrats for landing a keeper! emoji

congrats on the job, the cool thing about the marine industiry is that things are so damn expensive(like labor) that you can easily make a killing.

Its better to have a blown boat motor b/c the turbos generate a crap load of heat. Also a boat dosent have gears, unless its an I/O or a velvet drive or soemthing. Anyway with a crusing rpm of 5000 or so(depends on motor) its better to have a root blower becuase that make instant psi opposed to a turbo style blower or a turbo that needs to "spool up".... that and you cant run a whole lot of psi anyway. Never the less procharger is making a kit for the gp1300r waverunner. I am so getting it.... after I get a gp1300r.

Again, congrats on the job man.

I'm not sure what you mean by stabalizer. What causes it is just the prop throwing water. When the trim is up, the prop is angled up towards the top of the water. This causes it to push less water backwards, and propels water out into the air. I do not have any pictures of my boat, but it isn't anything fancy. Just a 22' Four Winns bowrider that my family uses. The real toys are my SeaDoos, a 02 RxDi and a 03XpDi.

Sorry to jack your thread turby, congrats again on the job, it seems like it is amazing.

thanks for the congrats guys

we're going to be manufacturing our own boats in the next coming weeks, and since im the only person there that can weld and fabricate...gets who gets to take on the job? emoji we only work with stainless and alluminum....who can complain about tig welding that shit all day?

I work in the sun all day in huntington beach, its so fuckin nice im incredibly blessed

the boats with the tunnels are catamarans, i think we have one that did like 177mph on the water...nutso...im gunna wakeboard behind that shit

thanks again, as soon as I get myself situated ill do what I can to bring this community up with mad fabricated parts, thats been my plan from the beginning to be honest

thanks again

yea man, like 18k lbs emoji

edit: and yea, typically all the boats have blowers. we do have one by gale banks with twin turbos, but like someone said...a 1500* turbo is a major fire hazard in a boat, turbos tend to be peaky and you dont want that on the water. besides, with the big blocks alone you're half way there, put in a mild 6psi and there ya go...mad fuckin power.

JE pistons is about 30 feet away too...but we use a lot more of CP's stuff

edit 2: heres the picture of ilmors modified viper motors

Yeah, these boats are fast. I work on a boat dock and there are several catamarans down here pushing over 2000 hp, needless to say, they scoot. There is a poker run on the lake every year and last year there was a race boat, like the fully enclosed cockpit and everything...it was sweet! Also there are a few Cigarettes here too
