well, they are welcome at the DSM Shootout as are Evo's. So I guess I would consider them a DSM.

I consider it a dm....I don't know why exactly. I GUESS ONLY BECAUSE in the 90's they were the turbo chrysler/mitsu line-up. talons/laser and stealths. eclipses and 3000gt's.

Are the stealths made in the same plant as the e/t/l?

I consider them to be DSM's, as I do Galant VR4's and Evo's (which aren't, but who really cares anyways).

'95 GSX - New motor/turbo going in...
'95 TSi AWD - For sale...buy me!
'03.5 MazdaSpeed Protege - Stock daily driver
'97 CBR 600 - Purple is a real man's color

I consider the 3000GT/Stealth to be a DSM only because it was a car shared my Mitsu. and Chrysler just like us. I don't consider an Evo or Galant VR4 a DSM only because it is not shared by Chrysler.

Here's what I would call the acid test of whether a not a car could be considered a DSM. Was there ever a version of the car made (make/model/year) that came with a DSM identification plate on the firewall? If the answer is no, then the car is not a DSM. Period.

The Evo? Not a DSM. Period.
The GVR4? Not a DSM. Period.
Unless you can find a Stealth or 3000GT with a DSM plate under the hood (or in the door jam, now that I think of it), they are NOT DSMs.

This doesn't mean we don't or can't associate with them. This doesn't make one better than the other. It just means that anyone calling anything other than a T/E/L a DSM is either saldy misinformed, or just a fucktard.

The end.

I completely forgot about the DSM stickers. Yeah now that I think of it I wouldn't consider them a DSM. More just a close relitive maybe but thats about it. Also if I were to go off of just a car shared my Mitsu. and Chrysler I would also have to consider the Starion/Conquest a DSM which most definitly isn't. Just another close relitive.

This has been discussed for years and years.

TELs are DSMs. The Galant VR-4 is considered a DSM since it is the exact same car with two extra doors and different sheet metal. (It is even the same platform).

That's it.

The 95 Sebring and Avenger had a DSM sticker on the firewall, but they are absolutely not and never were considered DSMs.

I was just about to say this... but you beat me to it. The DSM plate on the firewall is not the end all distinguishing mark for a DSM. I consider E/T/L and GVR4's(somewhat) DSM's. Other than that I have never or never will consider the EVO or the 3kGT a DSM. At that point you would have to consider a Lancer a DSM as well emoji

My stealth is a 91, so it was made back when TEL's were being produced, it has no DSM stickers on it. Just a crapload of mitsubishi stickers everywhere.

That was probably the most ignorant statement I have ever read. Thanks though.

Back on topic, I think this debate is over, since everyone should now know what is and isn't a DSM. Does it matter, no. It's just a name.
