95 eagle talon esi with 117K

Went to take off, and was shifting from 1st to 2nd at about 5k rpm...and the transmission blew a hole the diameter of my index finger, black oil poured from it, clutch must have went because i cant start the car, because the clutch wotn engage...I was just wondering peoples thoughts who know more about this than I do, on how the hell I could have done this...i mean trans only has 117K clutch was changed at 60K or so, but the clutch grabbed perfectly...I noticed the throw out bearing? or so i was told, making this squeky kind of sound when i would shift in any gear also...I sold the car for 800Bux with eibach springs kyb shocks, an exhaust header, and aem intake...this car has given me nothing buth eadaches, but it was fun while it lasted...sorry to get off topic, but i am completely floored by the unreliability of these cars, the 2ng gen. talons and elcipses...I dont think i have ever heard of one of these cars running solidly at 150K without a new tranny, or motor...and ye the popularity is still there...my personal case with my talon makes me more bias, but 117K (not driven to fuckin hell and back miles, these are nice miles, i was the 2nd owner, first was retired teacher) lightly modded talon just fucks up like this...this wasnt just the transmission...went thru 5 alt. belts, oh and that fuckin tensioner, power steering pump, all new heater/coolant lines, power steering lines, 3 serpentine belts, 2 radiators, 3 sets of radiator hoses (upper and lower)275 dollar wheel bearing job!...granted this may not sound like alot for sum but for all this for a car under 117K??? Again this car was fun while it lasted, in no way were these made for the modifications they advertise...I just bought a 1986 CRX si, oh yea the good ol 1.5L 5 speed with 198K and i swear it pulls harder than my modded talon ever did...plus it gets upwards of 38+ miles a gallon, and it will last me another 100K or more easily! sorry to say it but these talon eclipses are junk and a waste of time, if u wanna mod a car out, go with honda, swap a beefy B18 and u'll be set for 300K any honda will serve you well, and faithfully for a lonnnnng time!
thanks

R.I.P.

I have 150 on my talon. turboed for 2 years stock bottom end, stock clutch and stock trans.

Only parts i ever put into the car was an ECU, Fuel pump and ASD relay, and Leak Detection Pump. The car starts for me everyday and never fails to get me where i need to go.

If you properly maintain something and take care of it, then it wil last you.

like i said previously, 117K non hard driven miles...when i got he car I at 85K i had alot of matinence work done...such as timing belt, the rest of the belts, head gasket, valve cover gasket, ignition coil, wires and plugs, radiator, upper and lower hoses, numerous other hoses, expensive front wheel bearing job, brakes, etc....The car had oil changes with castrol high mileage every 3K, K+N oil filters, religiously! So maybe people should read the enitire post, let what has been said register in there head, then think of a logical repsponse, because in no way was my car "riced" out, son....The mods I did were tasteful and installed by mechanics, or under a certifed mechanics instructions...The point I was stressing was that these 2gnt cars are in no way built for the huge varitety of modifications this tuner world advertises...this 2gnt, gives there owners false hope of that fast n furious eclipse, they wish they could have...light modification or heavy, these 2gnt's are so unreliable and go thru engines and trannys like nothing at relitively low miles, even with routine matinence, and many replacement parts like i did...I dropped so much money into a car not even engineered for fuckin headers lowered suspension, intake...its a joke...so really, if your into dumping hige amounts of money over and over again into a car that gets no real results, then stick with a 2gnt, just gimme a PM and i'll tell ya my story over and over again on how I wasted a an assload of money for a cheap foriegn engineered economy based piece of shit like the non turbo, eclipse or talon...

This post seems to be nothign but your whining about bad luck with your car, i see no real point in you posting this since it does not benefit the site at all. Kinda like you maybe.

I dont feel like having a battle of wits arguement with an unarmed person so i am going to move this to the pits where our other members can have their way with your stupidity.

The only time my Eclipse has broken is when Ive done something to break it. I then fixed it without crying like a 12 yr old school girl with a skinned knee.

You do smokey ricer dumbfuck burnouts, then yeah, you'll spit the diff pin out the case.

Which you just did.

Because you're an idiot.

To say that all 2GNTs are junk because your car is a pile is a bit of a stretch. That would be just like saying all 1G's are crap because burntheblob's car is a hunk of shit.

Sell me your car so for once in its life it'll have someone that knows what they're doing taking care of it.

My mechanic welded that pin in place so that wouldn't happen. Now I have a tranny that will last well past 150k, and by that time I'll be doing swap anyways...

Don't hop in a dsm and expect it to be easy, then whine and bitch and moan when it isn't. Be like every other ricer out there and drive a swapped honda. Thats clever

HAHAHAHA he is complaining that it was "not engineered for headers, drops etc.." NO SHIT. You show me ONE honda that WAS...? Idiot.

I see REAL honda tuners go through more then one engine too.

As for being a foreign engineered product...eh? you really dont know your car, do you? If you had everything installed by a mechanic then how do you know they did it right? Its funny, you tell people to read your post and then reply. I think you should read it yourself, think about what you said and then post a well written reply.

Stupidity- Let us review this word and its meaning...

I state in the original post, in the man. trans. section that these (transmissions) are JUNK (and then went on about the car itself which i'm sorry, wrong section). Which is an opinion that is being expressed in the right area, obviously.

Now for the idiots that didn't read my first post. It also states that I'VE SOLD THE VEHICLE for $800.00

The posters who say sell it, fix it, wa wa wa...SUCK MY DICK, BECAUSE YOU EPITIMIZE STUPIDITY!

Now some 18 year old dreamer, like I used to be, is having a living nightmare with this car. He cant find a transmission. No transmission shop within 50 miles of our area, want to even mess with putting in the damn transmission when he finally purchases a transmission when he finds one. Mistake, a couple shops gave a couple estimates that were outta this world, to instal, clutch, and trans. This young man is going to find out the hard way like I did.

In the end he'll pay more than the cars worth for the trans. work. The fragile, economy minded (these engines should only be in the 65+ year old range for drivers, so no one breaks the fuckin thing) car, and call me a less than a year later with the car having 127K or less and want his money back.

And when it does break, your 10 times better spending the money o nthe performance shit for the car, because the OEM shit costs 2-5 times as much as performance parts.

And then theres labor, Theres absolutely no regualr run of the mill mechanics shop, that wants to work on your piece of shit talon/eclipse. There hell to work on, and then you get that nice fat 200 dollar + bill for just replacing belts!

Hondas, yes I now currently an 86 CRX. And i'm proud of it and I like it alot already. You can say all you want, These hondas get the best gas mileage, got the best running engines, and last and last and last almost forever. I found a B16 DOHC V-tec motor with under 40K, with manual tranny for 500 dollars! Thru a slavage yard in my area. I'm gonna do the swap myself and i'll have one fast fuckin "ricer" as you put it. I'de like to see you non turbo fucks on the track when this is complete. I'll be running 14's with an AEM V2 CAI, Cat back exhaust, DC headers, and a Vtec controller. All in all engine swap plus those light mods, it'll run me a little over 1100 bux or so to get this baby running 14's by summer.
!!!!!!!
You cant tell me with a thousand bux You can get your 420a's to run 14's?

The 1500 bux I spent on my talon, didnt do shit, but give me more headaches and shit breaking.

Hondas are foreign, but they are not foreign economy cars that were not meant for modding nor swaping nor turboing. NON TURBO, means motor is in no way shape of form supposed to be turboed, thats why they made the GST GSX TSI. Out of the pool of foreign cars out there, I bet the regular mechanic would prefer working on a honda more than a 2gnt.

Call me what you want, do what you want, call me a ricer, but i'de rather be running 14's non turbo with a v tec swap, light mods, all around a grand than spend thousands to get my wannabe fast n furious paul walker gs rs or esi into the 16's

enough ranting, i'm done, retire me, ban me, do as you please...Fuck these piece of shit slow wannabe badass 2gnt's...
GET THE TURBO MODEL, THATS WHY THEY MADE THEM...NOW A DAYS YOU CAN 1ST AND 2ND GEN TURBO MODELS FOR THE SAME PRICE AS THE NON TURBO TRASH!!!

Do your searching, the CRX was an economy car and one of the first few that were able to achieve 50mpg on gas only.

Ding Ding ding, what do we have for him Johnny......

We hope you enjoyed your stay at 2gnt, thank you come again!

Tell Hahn that trans is junk....500hp and still tickin, but i guess he knows how to drive too.

It's so funny how the people who cry about how 2GNTs are so undependable are those who are incapable of doing any work on it themselves. "I had all the work done by professional, certified mechanics." If you can't fix it yourself, then you have no business fucking with it.

Take the back off your computer and start modifying it. When it breaks, race your rust bucket shitcan down to the library so you can get online and tell everyone, in your expert opinion no doubt, how computers are a stupid fad because you can't handle modifying one.

What a fucking stroke. emoji

What a fuckin idiot! Just because he is too lazy to work on his own car. My car has never seen a shop, its called buy a fuckin manual and do it yourself. Also I used to be into Honda's a lot and have no problem with them, but a 86 CRX. What a moron!! The b16 isnt a direct swap for that old of a CRX, those fucking things are carb'd. He can have fun with that. FYI: I have never been beat by a b16 CRX unless it had a turbo or N2O, so I dont know why he thinks his magical ass is going to run 14's. This whole post just makes me wish I could find him and smack him in the fuckin head and laugh in his face.

Have fun running 14s. Congrats, you will get beat by pretty much 75% of cars on the road that were made any time recently. Try racing a turbo 2GNT, see what happens. It's sad to see people that are so dumb. Have fun with your fast and furious crx. You should fit in well with all the other honda tooners.

im usually very tolerant...but get this shit outta here...now im one of those guys who takes his car to the shop because im an inept in mecanics. sure its cost me quite a bit but fuck i work hard for my money and deserve to spend it were i want. thats the price you pay wen i dont have the skills, time or guts to mess wit my car myself, altho i do regular maint. myself. 160k and running smooth, with nothing but a CAI, GST catback and new coil pack. we need to ask a mod to delete this fuckin post makes me just mad to think about it. and if i ever encounter you on the road we can have a friendly race, your 86 CRX against my NA basicaly stock 2gnt, i highly doubt ul beat any one, and not even come close to 14s...now go and do your Vtec swap...

sorry if i didnt make any sense guys, im just agravated...

This guy is a retard. My car has almost 130k miles on it and I have had no problems whatsoever. It has never broke on me once in the 2 years I have owned it and over 20,000 miles it has been driven. Original clutch, tranny, etc. He must have bought the biggest POS ever. The tranny is not hard at all on the 420a's, me and my friend just finished pulling his and getting it rebuilt and replacing the clutch as well. Piece of cake. This guy has no idea what he is talking about, he needs to learn how to drive apparently or buy a decent car.

THANK YOU, COME AGAIN!

2gnt's suck. Sell it and buy a turbo. emoji Honda's have there problems to and they will never look as good as a 2gnt (for the $, don't include Type R's or S2000's etc). A lot more people mod and go NA on Honda's so of course a lot more people will run better times and blah blah. Still think there should be SOMEONE running 14's NA but not many people want to try and I don't blame them. I miss my 2gnt all of a sudden but hey that's another thread. BAN this guy.

I knew you were a fucking twat as soon as you said we wanted the Fast and Furious Eclipse... your 18? are you sure? A dreamer? You bought a CRX and think its nicer then a DSM? AHAHA
Now you get to learn to fear the talon and eclipse name... when every single one you encounter absolutely destroys your ancient all-motor rust bucket.

91k on my RS before I sold it. Not once did I have a mechanical problem with it. Sure my glove compartment snapped and fell apart when I opened it one time, and my interior manual mirror assembly broke, not to mention the front driver's side tire that would always leak air for some reason.

But seriously, I NEVER had a mechanical problem that required me to take the car in for repairs. Once my temp gauge told me the car was overheating but it was just a bad t-stat that I replaced in 5 minutes. That was the most reliable car I ever had even though it was modded to hell.

Take care of them and they'll last a while.

Which is an opinion that is being expressed in the right area, obviously. Now for the idiots that didn't read my first post. It also states that I'VE SOLD THE VEHICLE for $800.00 The posters who say sell it, fix it, wa wa wa...SUCK MY DICK, BECAUSE YOU EPITIMIZE STUPIDITY! Call me what you want, do what you want, call me a ricer, but i'de rather be running 14's non turbo with a v tec swap, light mods, all around a grand than spend thousands to get my wannabe fast n furious paul walker gs rs or esi into the 16's enough ranting, i'm done, retire me, ban me, do as you please...Fuck these piece of shit slow wannabe badass 2gnt's... GET THE TURBO MODEL, THATS WHY THEY MADE THEM...NOW A DAYS YOU CAN 1ST AND 2ND GEN TURBO MODELS FOR THE SAME PRICE AS THE NON TURBO TRASH!!!

I didn't actually think people thought CRX's were built to be race cars. Haha. The 1.5L speaks for itself. emoji

And, last time I checked...

Saying that all the 2gnt transmissions are garbage because yours broke is like saying all people who own 2gnt's are completely retarded because you owned one and you are completely retarded... That logic doesnt make sense.

Oh yeah, I spent $900 on my turbo kit... $900<$1500... Turbo 2gnt > CRX easy math there
