For those of you who dont know what philadelphia is like during the night time, it's basically organized street racing on back city roads, alleys, or even mainstream roads. Well last weekend my buddies and I took a routine trip (every month or so) to get some racing in. Well my friend just bought a hooked up Protege (turboed model) and we decied to take my car, my buddys GTP, Sti, and his new Protege. Arond 2 am we see the protege rolling over to the side of a back road( area police just broke up). so we check out the car because given the circumstances, it wasnt a good area to be hanging around @ 2 am. Well turns out his MAF sensor ended up being loose and little did we know he needed some tools to fix it. At this time, we had been wacthing a Spec-V sitting by us w/ some1 in the car. Next thing we know, the guy gets out. Upon closer look, we noticed it was a undercover cop, full uniform and everything. He actually handed us a tool, and began talking cars with us. He said they're cracking down on racers coming to philly every other night. We are from delaware (20 minutes fromphilly) so the cop didn't want to do all the paperwork and time it takes to file something he didn't see us doing (racing)... or that HE saw... Anyways, he saidthe fines are doubling, and soon enough theyll be impounded cars, whethere you are participating or spectating. Point proven, as another friend of mine went down the following weekend, an WOULD HAVE recieved a $450 ticket, until the cop became aware my buddy was a member of the ARMY. So for anyone who goes to or knows of the philly night scene, be careful where and who you are racing. They're crackin down at a whole other level, new cars, new faces, and new locations to bop people at.

Just another reason why I don't live there lol.

(FYI: I don't street race, I just hate getting hassled by cops thinking I'm some big street racer)

whats a street race?

the cops in indy dont impound your car, they just give you tickets every weekend until you are in the hole a couple thousand and your license gets suspended from points. gotta make that cheese i suppose.

the track is great and all but sometimes 3 hours of waiting isn't worth 3 or 4 runs... I myself don't like street racing either, and don't participate very often unless I'm challenged by a car actually worth the gas of racing... Im just giving a heads up to locals around the area. never see many dsms in philly, except the one who claimed he was n/a but rubbed the gst sticker off and whooped my arse.. emoji my buddies end up going most the time and i get caught up in it somehow? and theyre the ones who are screming at people to line up. craziness i tell ya..

It's funny you mention this. July 1st last year I received a ticket for drag racing at 2am. Though I was a passenger the charges were still severe. One cop broke up the racing on Holstein. I believe it was Holstein. It was a back road where there are warehouses. Anyway, my buddy's wrx was parked in one of these parking lots along with a few other cars. The cop proceded to block the driveway to this parking lot which was are only point of escape. We run back to the cars and someone goes "dont get in the car just keep walking" officer goes "owners of these vehicles get in them now or they will be towed" Now though I was not the driver I still got the ticket which really sucked. The ticket would have been a couple $100 and a suspened license for 6 months. Court date was for Oct31st, lucky for me I had to leave for active military duty on the 25th. So me and my navy recruiter goto traffic court in philly and I get off of the charges. And for one reason only. The judge hitting on my recruiter hillarious, shes like you dont know what that uniform makes me do shes like I love those uniforms my father was in the navy yada yada. I'm like ughhh but he'll I got off easy. So beware it is serious

The street racing scene here in the Washington DC area was huge for awhile to. People came down here all the time, before Philly started getting big. Lots of the guys from Teckademics used to go up to Philly for this stuff but I don't think they have been in a year or 2.

yeah philly has grown tremendously... i first went up there when i was 15 and there were around 100 cars racing on 1 given street... Now im 18, and you can find ATLEAST 250 on a given weekend night.. Just lined up in rows ready to go. Surprisingly sundays are the most popular. Major cities attract tuners apparnetly... emoji Only other thing bad about the popularity is there have been alot of fights breaking out now. Not even for car stuff sometimes, just drunk dickheads spitting on cars or gangbangers trying to rob someone or beat someone up.. now you need to bring a substantial amount of people with you just to go...
