#6281, "wanting another 2gnt?"

Every now and then I see a 2gnt on the road and remember what it was like to have a car that got good gas mileage and was reliable, but still looked awesome. This is when it was stock and not after I turbo'ed it. Once that happened the car was a nightmare and never really ran right. The 2gnt never broke for the first year or two that I had it and I could just drive it w/o worrying about anything. I think about getting another one as a DD cause I don't think the VR4 is something I wanna drive all the time in traffic. Especially w/ my job changing soon and I doubt I'll have my awesome 4 mile commute anymore. It's just a thought but it could happen. Anyone else feel this way after selling the 2gnt?

I have thought about selling both of mine, but then I get to thinking that it would be hard to part with the green one. My silver 97 DEF has to go once I fix a couple things on it.

That's part of why I won't get rid of mine. My old neighbors, and old bosses always had a story of their old car, regretting selling it and wanting it back again later on in life. I don't want to be that old man.

I'd rather be the old man with his old car but in pristine condition and leaves it in the garage with the door open for neighborhood kids to gawk at. And every once in a while (or maybe more often) take it out for a spin, maybe a burnout or two.

Turbo or NA...never again. When I first sold it, I kind of regretted it. As soon as I got my BMW, all regrets went away. I had a lot of fun with it but this is much better. emoji

Yea guys can sit here all day long and say they'd never sell it but thats a lie. As soon as the oppourtunity comes along (finances) everyone is going to step up to something waaay better than a 2gnt.

Members here have moved up to evo's, subarus, bmw, rx7's and so on. All great cars.

Everyone here will say they love they're 2gnt. But (there's always a but) The next car will be even better. emoji

yea my next car WILL be better, but im not going to sell mine, ive put twice of what i paid for to my car, and will not possibly get any where near what i paid for it, so financially it would be an error, ill just keep it as a beater, my first car. I think once i move on to a better car i will be able to afford not selling this one. Btw blizzare those skirts mounted yet?

Lemme know what you end up doing w/ the silver one John. Although everyone wants to move on to better cars, or already has, I owned the 2gnt for 5 years and it was my first car so I'll always remember it. They are good looking cars and a cheap cars to drive daily. You will miss your 2gnt when your BMW is out of warranty emoji , although I love your car I work next to a BMW dealer so I see all the broken cars going in and out of that place.

I'd only trade my 2gnt for the perfect 97-99 gsx. Low miles, 5 speed, black or silver with black interior. I know I can't afford anything else really, but if a skyline came along with a decent price tag, like an r32 gtr, I'd just have to make it work.

You also have to remember that the majority of people that own BMW's are those old farts that will not touch their cars. I know so many people that will take their BMW into the dealership just to have them top of the coolant because they won't do it themselves. It's ok though, when mine is out of warranty, I'm just going to move up to the M3. emoji

I work next to a chevy and a ford, and a honda dealership. They all have broken down cars going into em. Isnt that the point of a service center? You cant really use that argument.

no emoji Ok I'll change the statement. A lot of newer BMW's are in there. Same w/ us at Land Rover. It's amazing how many cars completely go to shit the second the warranty ends. We always tell them to buy the extended warranty but no one wants to spend the extra $ and then they get owned later.

I don't know about that. M3's are nice but I would still rather have something else. (Rx-7, Supra) I gues it also depends what years, cause I hate the look of new bmws.

Last November I picked up another stock one 123k miles for 1500 bucks for daily driver use. The owner (lady) thought the engine was going out, so she was gonna trade it in to get the new GT Eclipse.
I talked her out of it and got it; turns out it was bad spark plug wires.

I've been wanting another one for a long time, i've just never had an opportunity where the car was there at the same time that the money was there...

Good find. All the 2gnt's I find in my area are WAAAAY overpriced. If I picked one up I wouldn't expect to spend much more the 3 or 4 grand and have around 100K. I traded in my 97 a little over a year ago w/ 92K miles for like 2200 or something. It was overheating and falling apart, w/ a bad clutch but still emoji
