#48444, "Anyone know how to selectively export old Gmail messages?"
My gmail account is fast approaching capacity. At the rate I'm going, I'll hit the 10GB cap before Labor Day. Does anyone know how to selectively export old messages, preferably by year?
I guess I could export ALL messages to a backup of some sort, then just delete all originals older than, say, 2009, but I'm curious if there's an easier way.

Find an IMAP client that can store locally in a format that's portable, and copy out of gmail to a local (offline) store. I've done the reverse to import ~6 years worth of 2GNT.com related mail into my gmail.
Alternately, you can buy more gmail capacity and not worry about it.

Thanks, D. Guess my keyword choice for the Googles was shit. All I could find was a bunch of About.com SEO churn about exporting contacts.
The additional storage is cheap, but I'm paying upwards of $50/month for unlimited storage and bandwidth on multiple domains. Might as well just copy, compress, and upload to one of them, ya know?
