#47200, "Google +1"

I doubt any of you have noticed yet, but I have enabled Google +1 on every thread and message on the Forum. Things you +1 show up in your public Google profile (if you have one), and also have some small influence in the Google search rank. You'll find the +1 icon / button in the menu bar when viewing at the thread or message level, next to the "Share on Facebook" button.

Enjoy.

Agreed, Dino, why. I understand Google + is about to be, and will most likely, be the new "news" source. For some community's anyways.

What is so special about google+ anyways, from a USER. I don't care what they claim, I want to know someone that personally use's it, and has pro's/con's.

Jeff.

You seem to be confusing the +1 button and Google+. While things you +1 in Google search results and on Google+ will show up in your public profile as things you've +1'd, this isn't exactly the same thing. The +1 button is just a way of saying "I think this is coolo" or "I found this useful and someone else might, too." Things you +1 here will show up as +1'd in your Google public profile if you have one, but it'll also show up in Google's search results as being +1'd by however many people, which could be helpful to someone searching Google for 2GNT information.

Truthfully, it was trivial to do and I've been pushing 2GNT.com social media integration for the better part of a year. This is just one more facet of that.

FYI.. my comment was meant to be silly.

Jeff, it's all about control. If you had a picture of a friend passed out drunk next to a toilet with big, black cocks drawn all over his face, you'd want to share it, right? Well, what if you're "friends" with your mom or your boss? Maybe not the best idea.

Unfortunately, on Facebook, you share with all your friends. If you're on G+, you simply share the picture with your Mitsubishi and/or DSM and/or Wisconsin Death Trip circle(s). Your mom and your boss never see it. Joy.

But that's just sharing. What about reading? Let's say you've just logged into Facebook. First thing you do is unfriend that retard who fell for yet ANOTHER obvious phishing scam and is sending spam to everyone on his contact list. Next, you pull up your account and "privacy" setting to turn off whatever shady new marketing "feature" Facebook has rolled out to make a quick buck off your "privacy."

Now that that's all taken care of, you can get to checking out what's going on. Hit your timeline and start skimming through all the fawking worthless updates from people you can't even remember friending in the first place. When you DO see something interesting, maybe you like it or leave a reply like "lol."

On G+, you click on your Mitsubishi circle and see what your Mitsubishi friends are sharing. Could be DSMs, could be Evos, could be a totally rad '86 Debonair V 180 AMG from a Japanese auction house. Sweet. Next, you jump over to your Wisconsin Death Trip circle to see what the people you know in your own neck of the woods are talking about.

In both cases, you get to filter your input and output, making sure only the people you WANT to see things see them, and seeing only the things you really WANT to see.

Don't really want to follow someone who adds you to his circles because he looks like a douche, but feel that social media pressure to follow back? Add him to your "Who the Fawk ARE these people" circle. He sees you've added him, you never have to see what he has to say. That's how you fly the passive-aggressive skies.

And then there's hangouts (live video chat with groups of your friends in certain circles) and sparks, which is like a customized Google search of the latest news in whatever topics you want.

Long story short, Google Plus kicks all kinds of ass. In less than a month, I've seen GalantVR4.org friends talking about things with rally friends, I've seen 2GNTers respond to blog posts by entrepreneur friends, people I've interviewed in Canada have replied to updates from niche marketing connections, and random people I know from Twitter are commenting on pictures of my roll cage with co-workers here in Phoenix.

That, my fellow former tbricker, is why you make the switch. I turned my FB off this past Monday. If I turn it back on, it's only to make sure the first 20 Google results for my name are about me (and not some other stroke named Brian Driggs).

YMMV.
