#46138, "Special Insurance?"

I got talking with another car guy (my foreman) and we got talking about coverage. He's got a '79 Firebird TA and a '93 Firehawk. He was telling me that although the '79 was easy to insure under the stated value insurance, his '93 was a bit harder, even though it's a pretty rare car as well. So it got me thinking. Does anybody have stated value insurance or other such coverage? Or do we have to wait another couple of years until our cars get older? I know most insurance companies don't cover more than about $1200 in aftermarket (if you provide paperwork and put it under your policy), so is there possibly another way of covering modifications, such as adding property insurance to your policy? Also, what insurance companies are better at covering modified cars? Sorry for the list of questions, but it's been on my mind at work all day long.

i think the reality is that the cars are worth jackshit. if you want to cover the performance parts and such for theft or fire, you can do that on riders to the plan. otherwise, i wouldnt bother with special coverage as if you get into any kind of accident, they'll likely total it out regardless of the company.
