#46100, "Poll question: ARP Cam Studs..."

So I keep going back and forth on these.

New motor already has ARP head, main, intake, and exhaust studs.

So yay or nay?

You know what will happen if you do not buy them? When you install your cams, the cam cap bolts are going to strip out on you. :p

Yes, Dave is probably right, BUT the car needs wheels to be able to use the cams. Sorry Tim, hope these other ones work out for you.

I would recommend any stud for the cam caps. Just about everytime I try and torque these back down I snap one of the bolts in half before its even close to reaching torque. I will deffinately be changing to studs next time I have to remove the cams

Never had them and never saw a use for them. Here I'll help you out; just send me the money that you were going to spend on the ARPs and I'll let you use your stock bolts. If any strip out, just send it over here and I'll helicoil them right back to full use.

No thanks necessary

they break because ppl "feel" for a tightening point. Those particular bolts + the aluminium threads they're going into will never provide the feel like that.

not everyone has an inch torque wrench either. 114 in./lbs

Unless you are going for some sort of record for most ARP products on a single engine, use the money you were going to spend on the cam cap studs and buy an inch-pound torque wrench. I've never broken one when using a properly sized torque wrench. However, I have broken one when using an improperly sized torque wrench.

Yeah, there is discussion of me studding the trans to block

And Zac is right, Mandy needs wheels to roll since the mishap with a rock at 5am.

One rim was split in half the other is dented.

Kosei wheels are expensive, and evidently dont like miniature boulders
