Well, this Friday a good friend of mine was going to purchase a 97 Eclipse GS for $4,800; white, leather, 5spd, cold-air intake w/ 124,000 miles on stock motor. He doesn't know anything about any of the 2G motors, or DSMs in general. I was going to walk him through everything, check out the car for oil leaks, blown headgasket signs and other miscellaneous things you would check before buying a car from a private seller. Well today, I find out that a friend of a friend is selling his 1996 GS-T with brand new copper orange paint job, 97-99 front/rear end conversions, shaved antenna, turbo wing, injen air intake, Greddy Type S BOV, stock IC and piping, Apex 3" turbo back, all polyurethane mounts, Greddy kevlar timing belt, complete coil over suspension, GST rims with brand new Cooper tires, S-AFC with boost and A/F gauages, fully loaded interior with 20,000 miles on a rebuilt engine running 18lbs of boost.
I told my friend if he wanted to check it out and sure 'nough, we go and check it out. He falls in love with it and we both test drive it. It had been sitting for 2 months ever since he got his 2006 350Z and it started right up. Runs hella strong and pulls through all gears. CV joint needs to be replaced ASAP though, which is the only problem... not even a CEL. Hell, I would have bought the car myself if I had the money. After an hour of test driving and talking about all modifications and maintenance, I give my friend the DSM talk. "Do you want to own a car that will most likely require you to work on it every weekend? You're going to have to maintain this thing better than the pubes on your sack." He wants it and hands over $5,000 straight up gangsta cash rolled up. My friend originally wanted $7,000 for it but desperately needed the money; I think it was one hell of a deal, IMO. My friend who bought it even gets a "warrauntee" (sp?) on it, as the guy is a mechanic and did everything himself. Whatever needs to be replaced, just buy the parts and he'll install for free at his work.
Tell me, wouldn't you be jealous rolling in your 420A non-turbo? Oh well, atleast I have put in some decent hardwork into my car & it'll be fun helping him out with the 4G63 though. I'll post pics soon enough.
