I've been thinking about purchasing a mig welder with my tax return, any recommendations as to which one to buy? Mostly I will be wanting to learn how to weld exahust, intake mani's, and misc car stuff. I just don't know what to go with. Anyone have one that they would recommend? Thanks.

With most off the shelf MIG welders, you are not going to be effectively weld AL, and Intake Manifolds are aluminum.

Take a look at Hobarts, sold through Northern Tool I believe. They make good units for entry level applications.

Been really considering the Lincoln 180c with the spool gun on top of that for welding al, but I don't know about that from reading the reviews. Looks good except for the aluminum part.

Have a Lincoln 125 converted to mig.... love it. In hindsight should have gotten the 140 ($50 cheaper if counting the 125's conversion kit).
