#45303, "Long time no talk"

For those people that don't remember me, I used to have a 2gnt (my first car) and joined this forum 9-10 years ago. I just sold my VR4 and now only have a boring daily driver (Corolla). I plan to get another "fun" car at some point (maybe an EVO) but a lot has been going on recently. I'm getting married in April 2011, I just lost my job (no big deal cause I hated it after working there for 9 years) and I am 99% moving from the Washington, DC area to Dover, DE for her government job (moving to Dover Air Force Base). How is everybody here? All the old school guys still have 2GNT's?

Let's see;

Highest whp; 737whp (Zero), 567whp (Bullett), 505whp (Caesar), in the 500whp's (Dougie)

Fastest 1/4; 10.87 (Hahn lowest confirmed), 10.99 (Ceasar), 11.06 (Ragetech), 11.09 (dynamite), 11.1 (Zero), 11.3 (Crab), 11.4 (Bullett. Lol, yeah I got myself in there)

Highest whp NA; 219.4whp (Bullett), 167whp (Turbo Brick).
This one is a little harder. Searching out numbers on these, that's the next closest I could find. I'm sure, over the years, I saw someone right around 170whp, but I can't find it.

Fastest 1/4 NA; 13.19 (Bullett), 14.6X (Billy Mack?), 14.99 (Fotown), 15.17 (VX100-Todd)

Sup Dave!

Picked up a Galant VR4, snagged an old Volvo 245GL, sold that to scoop another Galant VR4, both ended up being totaled out both pretty much back on the road (though I've been toying with picking up a third and recycling the would-be rally car in the last 24hrs).

MMmm.... government cheese.

i just bought another 2gnt for some reason. on the second day i owned it, it tossed the power steering belt. so i have a 98 camaro z28, 98 trans am, and now this 96 eclipse gs

I graduated from texas tech with a degree in Management, and a dgree in marketing. i was promoted to an executive at target and now instead of buying one nice new car i own 3 older nice ones. it really a better investment suprisingly and more fun.

im about to start searching the forum again, my 2gnt has a chrome engine bay and greddy headers, and thats all i ever plan on doing to the engine. its been fun so far but tossing the power steering belt on my second day of ownership is never a good sign

Dump the adjuster pulley (the one between the power steering pump and the AC condenser), get the smaller belt (belt size is on here with a quick search) and use the power steering pump to adjust the belt.

Typical/easiest/cheapest fix for this problem.

Glad to hear you turned back to the bright side.

this one?

I don't know the belt size, got mine from Tim, maybe he'll chime in, or someone.

Basically you just loosen two specific bolts on either side of the power steering pump that allow it to swivel. As those bolts are loosened, pry against it and it's bracket to supply tension to the belt. While tension is applied, tighten at least one bolt to hold it in place, release tension, tighten the other. Done.

As a rule of thumb, 1/2 an inch of play back/fourth is sufficient tension for the belt

I believe it's a 5 rib 49" belt or 5K490 or something like tha

It doesn't just seem like it, it does fall on its face. Stock ECU is made to do that. Biggest power robber on the car.

Hey Dave, glad to see you are still alive. I'm not sure about your current choice of car though. If I ever see traffic piling up in the left lane and people passing on the right, it usually involves a Corolla. On a positive note, I'm still running your old block and crank in my car. A piece lives on.
