A while back I bought a 2002 Cadillac Eldorado from my dad for trade in value. That was before my wife got a job on the same campus I work on, and now we ride in together and use her car. After about 2 months of just sitting there, she finally convinced me that we didn't need the gas hog that it was. So, kind of kicking and screaming, I sold it back to my dad, as he kind of wanted it back anyway. Well the car was black, so I called it Blackie. So for my birthday I decided I would build a new Blackie. I had been thinking about this for a few years, I just needed a little prodding from a close friend and the sale of the car for some spare cash to pull the trigger.(Pun intended) Well meet my new blackie.

I for the main parts of the gun, complete assembled lower receiver (with stock), complete upper M4 carbine 16" upper receiver, bolt carrier and charging handle, I went with Bravo Company. Their price to reputation ratio made it the best choice for me. The hand guard is from Magpul and I also picked 4 30 round Magpul P-Mag clips. For the rest of the stuff I kinda went on the cheap just for some eye candy mostly. The Rear site/carry handle and holographic site, picatinny rails, fore grip and flash light/laser site are all from amazon vendors. As I get more aware of what I really want I'll probably upgrade some of that stuff and ditch some of it. All the sites are redundant. But the optical site is set for about 100 yards and the laser is for close quarters as well as the iron sites. I really want a LaRue tactical hand guard, but $275 is a bit steep right now. For now we'll see how the cheaper stuff holds up to a few hundred rounds.
After all that, 500 rounds of ammo, a cleaning kick and carry case I have about $1400 invested. Not to bad in my opinion.
I've only put 30 rounds though it so far, but in the next week or so I hope to get to a range and really heat up the barrel.
