#44582, "Poll question: To paint, or not to paint..that is the question!"

So I have been thinking about painting my CF hood for a while now for two reasons. Mainly to avoid police attention, but also to maintain the "clean" look that I have achieved with the rest of the car.

So really the only three choices I could think of are, leave it alone, paint it to match the rest of the car, or hit it with a light coat and then clear it so that you can still see the CF weave underneath.

What do you guys think? And of course, if you have any other ideas, feel free to chime in.

leave it. Paint it and you'll limit your potential future buyers if you wanna sell it. Btw, it doesnt attract cops as much as your gauges when they ask why you were speeding. lol

Yeah. Because there are always dozens of people lined locally to buy a used carbon fiber hood.

I say paint it. If you're interested in top dollar resale value of the car at some point in the future, you wouldn't modify it beyond wheels and a stereo.

I'd have to say paint show or no show. From my experience, no matter vechicle I drive there's always some Choad out there eithers keys my hood etc.. Now, if did have cf hood I know without doubt some dick with do more damage to it. Like key'd, jump or sit on the cf hood.

I don't know about you but I sure don't want an bent hood from some ass sitting on it, lol.

Its your care not ours but it would look good either way.

Don't paint it. You will regret it down the line.

I believe that it gives the car a nice aggressive look. emoji

I wish I had blown it, believe me, I do...

I like the different opinions. I am not really worried about the resale value of the car, so I am not considering that in my thought process.

Mikey - The black CF on a silver car can be seen from a mile away, and added to the fact that my car is already low, loud, and has wheels, is just another reason (a big one) the cop will add to his list of why to pull me over. It has been my experience that the more obvious it is that the car has been modified, the more likely you are to get pulled over. I feel like the CF hood is basically a big bulls eye.

That being said, I do like the mean look of the raw CF and I feel like it adds a different dimension to the exterior look of the car.

Hmmm..I got some thinking to do..

Paint it, I painted mine.

Lol, not that fair a comparison with all the cracks etc. but to me it looks better and, as you pointed out, doesn't attract as much police attention.

I've always thought that raw CF looked extremely tacky on anything other than an exotic that was meant to look outlandish from the get-go. Just my .02.

true, but how many dsmers want a silver one though driggzilly? if there aren't many, then your slim chances are down to none now. do what you will, just my opinion.

Yea, I'm leaning more and more towards painting it. I am going to get some estimates this week and if it isn't too expensive, I think I will go ahead and get 'er done.

Do what you want with it. Each person has their own opinion on what needs to be done. If you listen to all the people on here bout painting it or not painting it, you're never gonna do anything with it. If you want to paint it than paint it.

Well of course I am going to eventually do what I want to do, I'm just not sure what that is yet. Hence, why I asked for some opinions on the matter. I value this community and its members very much, and I wanted to see what ya'all thought.

How much would you pay for it if it was painted silver vs. left alone?

I say get a design or logo or something made at your local decal shop, stick it on there, paint, remove said decal and clear the bitch. That way you get the "clean" look, while also showing off that is a carbon fiber hood? Best of both worlds in my opinion!!

*Edit* looks good the way it is too emoji

Might as well put a bulleseye on it, hence the Zakk Wylde trademark.

It would look nice painted to match or just leave it add scratch resistent clear coat to it, like 40 coats.

Nice, 2g my brother sold his crapy camaro with that ufull truck motor and himself a Silver 1999 oz 10th anniversary with 200 plus miles for 500 bucks. Body is in great shape but need on strut patch job.
