#43454, "Palin vs Family Guy"

Anyone else think Sara Palin is blowing this whole thing outta proportion? I mean come on she has no sense of humor what so ever. The girl who even voiced the character Ellen has down syndrome and thought it was hilarious.

I thought it was pretty funny - the episode that is. I have a family member with down syndrome and I am not offended.

Story goes like this, Family Guy aired on Sunday and the son, Chris, dates a girl named Ellen, who has down syndrome and who tells him over dinner that her mother is “the former governor of Alaska.” Of course Palin catches wind and gets offended by this due to her son, Trig, has down syndrome. Andrea Fay Friedman is the person who did the voice for Ellen.

Sorry I guess I should have included this in my first post. Whoops. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that down syndrome is funny or that the people who have it are funny, unless they are actually funny. I just find that Palin just went overboard with it.

Some people are more sensitive than others.

Nothing wrong with that. If you had a kid with down syndrome, you would probably feel the same way.

Palin is like everybody else. She just likes to hear herself talk, and in this case, bitch. Not a fan of her at all..

But dont forget guys. Since she lives in Alaska, which is geographically closer to Russia than the rest of the US, she has the advantage when it comes to foreign policy

i'm politically neutral, but if you were older, had a child, and unfortunately the child was diagnosed w/ down, you would be frustrated at the public scrutiny as well. most people take defense to their children, especially if they're diagnosed - much less made fun of in front of the general public

For real.

If you cant see where she is coming from, then dont fucking post. It doesnt take a fucking rocket scientist to realize this. The only reason her voice is heard is because she is a popular figure. Im sure there a million more people upset only their voice isnt heard.

And STFU Ebster, we all know you are a leftist commie anyway.

She sucks...enough said

Maybe if she wasnt a holy roller and wasnt opposed to methods of birth control or abortion, she wouldnt have had a kid late in life where chances of mental retardation and birth defects are greatly increased.

Do I understand where she is coming from, of course Tim. Do I give a shit what she has to say, NO

Ignorance is bliss so you two must be pretty damn happy.

They were not making fun of her son....they know better than that. Imagine the scrutiny they would get if they did. They were making fun of her to say the least. Yes they did say the girl had down syndrome. Hell they poked at Michael J Fox and he actually has Parkinson's disease. Did he blow it out of proportion no. Palin herself had been quoted "how's my retarded little boy". From her own daughter and son in law. Among other things, to cover it up I am sure she came to an agreement with her daughter about it. Maybe you should check your facts before you post.

The thing I have learned about holy rollers is that they are only holy when people are watching.

Of course she's not the only one offended. There are thousands of others as well but their voice doesn't get heard. That is obvious. This isn't really new news to anyone. Their only covering because it's Palin.

What I'm getting at is that Family Guy has been roasting people of every race/color/creed/celebrity/etc...ever since it's been on the air. Hell, South Park has been doing it for over a decade.

My personal opinion is people need to not be so freaking uptight and offended and go on the defense. You're not the first fucking person to feel this way...get over it. It's much easier to laugh and take it in stride then it is to get all worked up about it. People need to learn to just look back and laugh.

It was a simple statement to those who are assuming things they shouldn't be. Getting offended online over something like that is ridiculous and not worth the time.

Political Correctness will be the death of us all.

I heard an interesting statistic the other day. It said that 71% of the American public thought Palin was unqualified to hold office in Washington. When you think about how 60%+ of the American people feel that the entire government is ineffective and incapable of getting anything done, doesn't that sort of make her a natural contender?

Don't vote Democrat.
Don't vote Republican.
Vote for anyone else.
Tell your friends and family members to vote.

Which is better? To hear people bitching about the government and say, "Don't blame me, I don't vote," or "Don't blame me, I voted for the independent candidate."

If 40% of Americans voted Democrat, and
if 35% of Americans voted Republican, and
if 25% of Americans voted anything else, it sends a message. ESPECIALLY if voter turn out is way, way up.

Dems win, but STFU because 55% of the country didn't vote for you.
Reps gloat because it was close, but STFU because 65% of the country didn't vote for you.
Meanwhile, some honest, straight-talking independent guy sees this and thinks he might have a chance next year...

If you don't vote - you're not a citizen.

Also, this does not need to be political.

Fact is, she is a popular figure so she is heard.

And I can call Jess (Ebster) a leftist commie all I want, even in text messages!

If 40% of Americans voted Democrat, and if 35% of Americans voted Republican, and if 25% of Americans voted anything else, it sends a message.

Couldn't agree more. btw, Palin is a retard.

Palin supporters scare me. No, really they do. Quiver to think of her elected to national office.

As for Family Guy, it's a bit past it's prime. But Seth McF's humor is spot on. I've never 'searched' the uncensored material, but would bet good $.$$ that it would crack me up.

The right FG & Simpson's audio quips out of context are fantastic. Freakin' awesome to use them as ring tones on your cell phone.

People like Palin only like hearing the sound of their annoying voices. I go to church and believe in God, but by no means am I some holier than thou prick trying to start trouble over something petty. Looks like she focuses on BS like this so people don`t see how she screwed up with her family. She needs to make her self useful and choke on something.

Finally some people who feel about Palin the way I do. Really not sure what it is about her that draw people in.

Other than the fact that she is a MILF, she has nothing to offer this world.

People are drawn to Palin becuase she perfected finger pointing. It`s always easier to point out and complain about other peoples` faults or actions than your own. That way you can feel good about yourself and not need to better your own life. Political correctness is just this: You offend me because deep down I know you`re right, but It`s easier to complain than to change.

If our ancestors were Politically Correct, how would they survive? Maybe they could hunt using interprative dance and kill their prey by making them laugh themselves to death. If they were the way society is now, they`d never survive and we`d not even be here to get annoyed at people like Palin.

Very true to all those statements. I find it funny to sit in the park on saturdays and watch how people act....amazing how many people think no one is watching.

As said before it is easier to point out the faults in someone else than to accepts your own faults. She just doesn't seem to get it that the majority of the people in this country.....bout 99% of them, do not care what she has to say. I would hate to see what it would have been like with her as the vice president.
