Nice list, Tim. Starting out with something simpler.

I wonder, are you planning to upgrade both front and rear sways? I'm thinking a beefier rear and stock front might counter understeer, if not make the car more susceptible to oversteer at the limit.

Your thoughts?

I, too, am hoping to get some seat time before April. Personally...

Engine/trans out of 195 in 10 days, off to Precision Chassis Works for final front end repairs, FMIC install by end of January, reassembly and registration in February. Hopefully, I'll have the car road-ready by Feb 15th, when there's a group of nutters from Dirty Impreza going out to an old, Vietnam-era airfield to do some rallyx practice.

Barring that, I'd like to have the car shaken down, buy a helmet, and get the car to SoCal for a rallyx some time in April. (And there's HAMMARS, too.)

Oh crap, let's see;

The NA; get some seat time on the newest set-up. Get the 65mm TB installed. Get the proper cams in there (gotta make 'em somewhere). Get her into the 12's.

The 420a Turbo; Get some full runs in with the current set-up. Switch the W/A pump over to the ignition switch, lol. Fix the tranny. Get into the 10's.

The GSX; fix up the rest of the gremlins. Get her tuned up. Get some tints on her. Run her at the track.

Two "Other" projects;

Build my 420a race tranny, Couple o' few ideas/modfications that I hope will work out. Had them in the head for awhile. Finally getting to them.

Amass parts for, and start assembly of, the ? to 1 engine. Don't know how high I can make it, but we'll see.

I think the starting point would be to have Malachai running. After that I'd like to get him painted

I think we're all looking forward to whatever tricks you've got up your sleeve this year, Mark. If you can drop a full second off your ETs for the next THREE Shootouts in a row - ALL MOTOR - I think everyone here would pony up a grand to just give you for being awesome.

Erik Z's taking the easy way out like the lazy, slacker he is. You know, when Dave sells his green Eclipse, it will be up to you to carry on the LED legacy around here. Way I see it, you've got about 3,628 more LEDs to install in that car.

What's going on with Malachi, Erik P.?

As for you, Mikey, something doesn't quite click. Round 2 of boosting as much as possible reliably implies - at least to me, anyway - that Round 1 was about the same thing. Except, if you nuked a JE in the process, maybe you've learned some valuable lessons. Hope Round 2 is successful and that you can spool that ass all over town without any worry. (The doubts after losing an engine are always the worst, ya know?)

Anybody else?

I think I'd like to see Thura get his Eclipse back together this year. Maybe see Dino survive a dyno session with Big E. Terry just needs to post up wheelie action with the 'Bee.

Crazily enough, none of the money issues have been due to kids. It's usually an unexpected bill or a month that was slow at the shop.

Well I finally got her dyno tuned on E85 with DSMLink last year, made a couple 11 second passes at the end of the year and put her away.

This year comes...
-Built transmission that will actually go into gear at 8500rpms and not have to try 3 times...

-Scattershield

-Possibly a side exit exhaust with a cutout to go either out the side or out the "regular" exhaust

-Cage it. This one im unsure of due to the fact of I dont know if I want to drive a caged car on the street. Track complained a little bit last year so im still not sure. As I have more power to be gained out of the tune, and hopefully better numbers with the tune and a trans thatll shift using no-lift-to-shift

I used to have a 420A...

Evo:
Pick up some hawk HT10's for the front (for track use).
Refinish the evo8 wing I just picked up (sand it down to all carbon fiber and reclear)
Hopefully spend a weekend at Thunderbolt
Maybe also spend a weekend at Pocono
Maybe a larger rear sway bar and/or a second set of rims/tires for the track
Probably will need a new timing belt by the end of the year

Eclipse:
Sell the turbo kit and return to stock
Sell the car
Sell all spare parts
Use some of the proceeds to hopefully fund the above plans for the evo

Get the Eclipse in good working order to make it to the shootout (don't want to show up in a Trailblazer).

-Adjustable cam gears to get the timing just right
-UDP to replace my bad stocker
-Tie rod ends
-lateral and compression control arms and upper ball joints
-tires
-brakes
--- if I get a tank of CO2 or CO2/Argon, patch the strut towers (no holes yet... but close) **** may be next year when fixing a couple of small dents and dings (not sure how it got one on its roof?)****
-get a set of license plates

And of course since this hasn't occurred in at least 2 years, a nice wash and wax.

Trailblazer.... new windshield

Ultimate goal is to keep both vehicles running for another year without having to repair it. ie: nothing short of regular maintence.

Since Leon opened up Tombstone again right here in Colton, I may consider rally Xing the Neon and the Eclipse.

I wonder if the GF will let me dirty up her new Impreza if I promise to install some mudflaps on it...

1. Finish putting the car back together and get it running well.
2. Go to the Shootout. Never been.
3. Get all the body work done and get the car painted.
4. Cams and cam gears.

In that order of importance and practicality.

Pffft. Sellout.

Oh. Wait. My bad.

Trailblazer doesn't matter. Dino's driven a Pontiac the last two years in a row. Terry drove a Dodge Dakota last year. I'm pretty sure Kulaga stashed his pedophile Corvette at a local middle school near the smoking section, and my last two trips to Norwalk have been in the backseat of a bright blue Honda Fit. (FIT IS GO... Plus I can eat napalm death cherries in the backseat the whole way.)

Oh snap. Tombstone. I've heard of that place. Maybe, if Cyndi lets you get her Impreza dirty, and I can talk Vanessa into getting an Impreza this summer, we can borrow our women's vehicles and meet Dan at Tombstone for the most fucked up 2GNT meet of all time - three dudes in Subarus driving on dirt.

Then again, maybe I'll just make it out there for Tombstone a couple times regardless with the Galant this year. I'm already thinking about Glen Helen and Vanessa's grandparents live in Covina, so I know how to get there and have a free place to stay. Haven't seen you in ages, man. Would be cool to see you drive in anger.

Join us in Norwalk. Drink a lot of beer. Man up and eat some of the 2008 vintage napalm death cherries. Drink until the sun starts to come up, then start drinking after breakfast to keep the hangover at bay. Welcome to the family.

You have cams? If you do, you can forget about using your mirrors at idle. It's still totally worth it. Some say the UDP is their favorite NA mod, but I always like the solid front motor mount and window-weld mounts everywhere else. Felt like a better connection to the engine.

If its even possible to afford...

Get the Megasquirt installed, and modify the fuel system with a 1:1 FPR and actually get the thing to run halfway decent.

Mind you that means I'll have an 97' AFX ECU up for grabs possibly.

OOOooooooooooOOOOOOo. Secret Projects! No teasers? Hope it's a 2GNT with something radical done to it (or is just super clean). I presume you'll do the unveiling here?

Selling "Booger?" Anyone else would probably be doing so to buy an Evo or a 3000GT or something. You, on the other hand, Kent... I have this feeling like you're wanting to get into late eighties, FWD Buicks or something like that.

Downsizing the fleet or do are you looking to try your hand at something else? Do tell.

Why all the effort if you're just going to sell it, Dave? Couldn't you sell it anyway? What sort of "old man" car are you considering? Is it a late eighties, FWD Buick or something?

And why did you ditch the Legacy? Overall, how did you like that car? Would you buy another? Would it make a good family car?

Get it installed before the Shootout. I can't remember a year in Norwalk yet where there wasn't an in-depth MS discussion going on around someone's car at least two out of the three days.

I say, scrape up enough to make the MS install happen. Borrow a stock ECU from Terry or someone to drive the car so you can sell the AFX/R to fund the project. Then make sure you've got $100 set aside between now and summer so you can cover gas and food to/from Norwalk.

Just get to Norwalk, Cas. We'll take care of the rest!

Not yet, suffice to say it's a HUGE project. And when I say finished, I mean running; Aesthetics will come later.

I don't real want too...but I'm getting pressure from the wife to down size. And I drove booger twice last summer. Once from beside the shed were it sat last winter, killing the grass, to beside the driveway. Then I moved it from beside the driveway, leaving a dead patch of grass, back to beside the shed. LOL

And I have some interesting plans for my v6 f-body. But you know me I like to play my cards close to my chest...that way I don't look like an idiot when I don't do them! But suffice it to say I bought a CNC mill to fabricate parts.

I thought I missed having a VR4 but I just don't have the time to mess with that car. I work to much and barely have enough time to relax and I never drive it. I'll just drive my Corolla for awhile and if I get another toy later it will have to be much newer.
The Legacy was great but cost to much a month. I lived at home when I bought it and paid $500 a month plus $250+ in gas and $125 in insurance. Once I looked into buying a place I realized the car wasn't worth that to me compared the the Corolla at $200 a month, $100 in gas and $100 in insurance. I was able to get a nicer place with the $475 per month I was saving and improve my lifestyle to.

Car payments can eat a dick. Don't miss 'em. Not looking forward to another one. Good on you, D.

Big Evil is one of those cars that I think deserves to be sneaky quiet. It's like Teddy Roosevelt said, "Speak softly and carry a big stick." Saaaaaay, that might be a bitchin' license plate. BIGSTIK.

And what's up with the manifold? You're ditching the freebie Venom? Or is this hot side?

And LOL @ "sane tune." What's that? Spin through first, spin through second, bang third nasty and Pantera starts playing automatically?

Just the rear sway is actually a thought in my mind. I would love to find an uber cheap GSX rear sway, as it is the same diameter as the FWD rear RM Sway. Since my exhaust is under the axle, it will fit fine and I can see what it will feel like before dropping 300 on RM Sways.

The AWD rear RM sway is 21mm.

I have heard that the fronts dont help much.

And yeah, this is just my basic list. Want to be turbo before August, but I may say F it, drive it as it is, and enjoy owning a house.

Sorry brother... I thought the same thing back at one point and had an AWD RM rear sway bar and it was a no go - regardless of exhaust. The mounting points to the rear subframe are off by an inch or two making the AWD/FWD bars completely foreign to each other. :/

Get the 2.4 monster tuned a bit more once I get to the East coast and have pump access to 93 octane.

Upgrade to ignition control on MS.

Possibly even make the move to MS II.

I run stock cams and currently have the prothane inserts all around. With the prothane inserts on both sides mounts, the solid front motor mount with 5/8" bolt mod, and the rear MM filled with 3M, will it really be all that much different than it is now?

I mean I definitely expect a little more vibration at idle, but how much worse should I expect?

Yeah man. The rotation of the crank is along the longitudinal axis of the chassis. The solid front alone will get the mirrors a-shakin'.

It's very cool all the same.

I've got alot of the similar plans as alot of other members. Mainly making the cars go faster.

The plans for the daily include: the 2.4 swap with a moderate turbo with the portfuler and keeping the power enough for a nice street car.

The plans for the red car include finishing the long project and dipping into the 10s in the quarter. Pics of the turbo system should appear shortly along with the build progress on the 2.4.

I also want to get more involved in this community and participate. I'm on this site alot and feel like I don't post enough.

Part out the rear-ended 99 GSX I just got.

Hopefully sell my 95 GSX next week.

Prep my 98 RS-T for sale this spring.

Enjoy driving my big block 66 Corvair.

Rebuild the big block in my 65 Corvair.

Make plans to maybe swap a 4G63 into my other 66 Corvair.

I know what you mean. I'm such a slacker. That's why I check the subscribe box for every thread I post in now. I figure, if I post or reply, then the conversation is worth following. This way, I might get a bunch of emails every day (over 60 yesterday, across multiple sites), but I'm less likely to forget about a thread.

PS - If you use Gmail, all the notifications from 2GNT show up as one thread in your inbox - not multiple emails in a list. Just saying.

Where's the LEDs? I know you've got LEDs going into those Corvairs.

This is madness, Dave. Next thing we know, you'll be collecting R/C planes again. (For those who didn't know this, Dave was something like a nationally ranked R/C pilot who traveled around the country demonstrating products. Very cool stuff, and yes, his planes had LEDs on them.)

Actually, I think Dave is experiencing a sort of renaissance. He used to be deep into Corvairs. I think he said he had 20 or 30 at one point. They're actually classics. What's surprising is that Dave's owned something like 20+ DSMs in the last five years and we don't consider that a sign of insanity.

Keep 'em coming folks.

Nothing wrong with multiple cars.... I'm planning on owning at least 2 2G DSMs in the future... insane is selling a perfectly running beast for a POS 83 Buick Regal with a 305 like I did instead of a Grand National.... the car was ok, the engine was a piece of crap, and it couldn't turn, or stop, or have a heater, or find a use for the interior wiring (2 coffee cans of dead wires removed) or keep my interest long enough to keep me from buying my new fun 97 Eclipse.... plus the Eclipse doesn't have a bad "old person" funk smell to it.

Yup. Just a little burned out on the Eclipse scene but I can always change my mind. It's time to act my age and play with cars that are much closer to my birth year. I've always loved the Corvair for its uniqueness and place in US automotive history. Having a big block rumbling around where the back seat used to be is all the more reason to drive one again.

Well....

2gnt:
Get the MSnS back to Terry to get rid of the Hi-Res code and put a reliable MS1 V2.2 back on it and drive the hell out of it.
Get the down pipe issue fixed(my vband clamp on the down pipe hits my upper radiator hose(have it heat wrapped now and haven't been driving it every day)
Fix the exhaust leak at the downpipe.
Possibly get some suspension for it.
Install the rear sway bar Ive had for over a year now.
1G TSI AWD
Start back buying some parts for it for the head and turbo
POSSIBLY get it running this year.(BIG MAYBE here)
Del Sol
Swap in the 14:1 compression H22(with a 89mm bore(almost a 2.4L)) in and put ITB's on it for a nice daily.

That is all...lol Like the rest I have a ton of work to do!

2003 SRT-4

Replace all timing components Completed on 01/02/2010
Front brake job Completed 01/06/2010 Edit: nm, pads are fucked. *sigh*
Hit 100,000 miles
Replace clutch
Install custom valve cover I've had laying around for 3 years
Trade Viper style seats for airbag sided seats
Complete interior detailing (Almost 7 years of smoking in the car has done a number to it)
Track down driver side headlight electrical gremlin

This car is a tank. Still getting perfect compression and the only thing leaking was a cam seal that got replaced during the tbelt install.

I've owned my car since new. Do you know how many times I've been to a drag strip let alone any type of HPDE? Twice. On top of that my back is utterly fucked and I do quite a bit of 2+ hour drives up north. By the end of a couple hundred miles it takes someone else to pry me out of the damn car. Yeah, the seats are fun but I'm getting old and they aren't as neat anymore.

Edit: My seats are showing some serious wear though so I doubt I'd actually be trading anyone. If anything I'll replace both Viper seats with SRS seats, sell one of the Viper seats and keep one for a rainy day. Plus I could just keep it in the garage and when I'm drunk I can sit down in it and make "PSSSSSSHHHHHH" sounds pretending I'm faster than I really am.

Fair enough. On my trip home over Thanksgiving, I realized they weren't the most comfortable seats I've ever strapped in to. Though alternatively, the SRS seats I rode in were nearly the same as far as overall comfort level is concerned.

I plan to/in the process of installing my new turbo motor and turbo in my car. It was all motor, but changed my mind since I sold my other 2g shell that the turbo motor was going into. So, now my car that was all motor got the motor pulled and gets to be my new turbo daily driver..I can't wait until it's finished. I will miss my other 2g, but hey, now I have a spare all motor and I got $1000 for a somewhat stripped shell! (so I won't miss it too much lol) Keeping the boost down during break in is going to suck, but so worth it. Can't wait for summer.

I won't give details, of my current or future 2g. But, as she sits needs a big patch job on her LH strut tower, RR wheel and radiator support close to the crossmember bushing.
But, I did pickup another DSM at an offer I refuse to pass up. Sad, thing is I was bashed for it but oh well.
I'll post up pics later in the week.

Replace motor and rebuild old one
Swap tranny
Clean up engine bay, ex - wire tuck, fill un needed holes in, reloom wires, etc
Replace rims
Paint
Finish trunk revamp
Upgrade to 3g rear control arms along with installing the revised Ingalls rear camber kit
Fix front suspension
Install Prothane bushings
Detail interior

I am sure that there are other things I am planning on doing but I can't remember.

Selling the 05 GTO to pick up another SRT-4... and I'm bringing the 95 GS back from the dead! Spent 4 hours swapping random interior parts from a parts car last weekend!

BTW, I think this is my first post in about 5 years lol

shuwa - even on certain days in the winter you can ride the bike. It is awesome. I rode all the time in the winter. We had cool winter days, where jeans and a long sleeve shirt were enough to keep you warm on a ride. Course at night it did get a little cold but not too bad. Those white beaches head all down the gulf coast too.
