My compressor has the test tube style moisture collector on it, but it's a piece of crap, not collecting anything.

Anybody have any ideas? My air tools spit water out in the summer, and freeze in the winter under prolonged use (cutoff wheel was the last casualty).

This is the one I use. It seems to do a fair job of removing moisture from the compressor output.

I run a air/water separator coming from the tank going into the wall then i use another at the outlet on the wall as my hose clips in. I have absolutely no water in my tools even under prolonged polishing or grinding.


An Air compressor will not contain the moisture to the tank itself.......this is common sense. Moisture is created by the heating and cooling of air. the not only happens in the tank but also in the lines.

Another thing to consider is to remove as much moisture from the air in the garage. Concrete will allow moisture to come up through its pours. Seal your concrete and insulate your garage. Install a dehumidifier if you are heating and cooling your garage as opposed to leaving it heated at 40 or 50* during the winter.
