A pushrod 4 banger with a Y2K 82mm turbonetics power huffer... yes sir, now thats badass.
I found this older article but its already hit the 400 mph mark at bonneville. I'm not much into the whole land speed deal but it has taken over as my favorite Mopar I-4 surpassing Carlson and Cox's neons.
Their A4 is only 179 inches, but one could get a 3.1 L using the Mopar "blank" crank at 3.5" and use a standard LA Magnum series piston at a 4.17 overbore. Thats a great ratio into a "high yeild" powerband.
If I ever hit the poweball the A4 engine shall be in my Talon playcar.

Still not quite amazing when compared to the 250 and 260 mph the Busas are doing in a mile out here, but there aren't a whole hell of a lot of people in the 400mph club. This might be the only four banger to ever do it.

My ass and especially due to the fact that this engine is nothing more than half of the LA series magnum motor I have in my Ram. Its not just some literbike with a powercommander and a sproket.
Hell the sprint car versions of this motor are 350 HP out of 162 cubes.
PLUS the last time the bike mid 250mphs were cool was in 1970 when a twin engined harley and a twin engine/turbo yami broke the 250 barrier. I'm glad they can do this easily now with almost 40 years of technology on thier side.
IMO damn cool engine and especially to hit this feat. A bigger cubed steamliner bike, I think the Lucky 7 only hit around the 360 mark.
I would love to see the Mopar A4 engines potential campaigned as a drag engine. LSR is still lame in comparison to other motor sports. Its all old rich dudes using speed as viagra or rock-a-billies building rat rods to push the flat head as far as it can go.

Let me clarify my comment. Bonneville has a short course and a long course. The long course is some 5 3/4s miles long. The track at Maxton is 1 mile. I'm saying to get to 255+ in 1 mile is an amazing feat. To give you an idea just HOW amazing, it's a busa with 650 horsepower that did it last time. Not saying this achievement isn't spectacular, because that's bullshit. Someone put a whole lot of time and effort into this. BTW, MOST of the land speed racers aren't the ones with blue chip sponsors and stuff. There are some of those, but if you go to an event, you'll see what I mean. Most of the stuff isn't really made that people need, so they just make their own shit. And it's quite haggard. It's not the CNC milled machine fest you seem to think it is.
400 mph even in 5 and a bit miles is spectacular. So is 1400 horse out of a 4 cylinder. To give you an idea, that's 300 mph in a third gen firebird.
