#42046, "How do you find a particular (older) car?"
Oct-17-09 01:27 PM by 420agreenvilleSC

I'm looking for a 91-92 eagle summit/dodge colt (first gen). Not to be too specific, but I'd like it to be blue (factory color), 2dr hatchback, and MTX. 91 was the first year this was available.

looks like this:

here are the specs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagle_Summit#First_generation_.281989-1992.29

What's the best way to find a particular car like that? I've tried a nationwide search (as best I could) of craigslist and other various used car sales sites. Please share any info you have.

That might be hard to find since so many people are looking for them too to run down the track.

Or bring a trailer with you when you got to the SO and pick this up. Price is kinda high.

and

worry me. If it has rust there, who knows where else. Good find tho, no doubt.

remember the specs:
91-92 hatch
BLUE
MTX

thanks for everyone's findings. Search your local craigslist, see if one pops up.

WTF?! I posted here a couple days ago, and its not here. Oops must have pushed the wrong button.

Sorry man, I called to go look at the car the day I told you I would (the 20th?) and the car was already sold.

That's a snoozin' losin' kinda thing. It went quick.

Sorry Charlie.

it's a very good find indeed. I can't afford that price, at least not right now. plus it's not blue and its an auto. If i had the money, i would jump on it, definately. Thanks for the find man and bringin the thread back

based on finances and timing, I wont be getting this car for at least 6 months or so. It is good to see that there are still some summit's and colt's around. That makes me feel good about acquiring one in the future. I'll be buying one eventually.

to answer your question, distance can be from SC to the great lakes (radius)

i saw this back when you posted it and forgot to reply. You are so thoughtful mark. I still would love a blue 91 4/5 spd eagle summit, but haven't been looking too hard. If one pops up locally, i'll probably throw money at the guy/girl (like tim did w/ the pink valve cover) if it's in good shape

I wasn't able to view the page because I wasn't a member (Im assuming). I created a username and am still unable to view it. I'm guessin because admins have to approve my activation. While I wait for that, what is it? a colt?

91 blue Dodge Colt Hatch. here's his ad (I know and trust this guy):

"I bought the car with 68,000 miles. It now has around 80,000.

I'm just kind of bored of it and feel that my hope of someday swapping a 4g63 are not going to happen any time soon.
I would rather re-build my talon and possibly pick up a Subaru as a DD. So in order to do any of that I'd like to see if I can sell her.

The car was an Auto, but it's a fully functional 5 speed. Not a hack job. The only way you can tell is that the gauge cluster has the gear selector on it.

I have lots of spare parts that go with the car, because I parted out another colt in order to get the transmission.
I have 3 ecu's, a bunch of axles, lights, you name it.

There is Ice COLD ac in this beast with fresh R12 not the R134a crap.

Great gas mileage and good beater car.
Tons of new maintenance parts.

Any questions feel free.

I would like to get $1,500 for this beast of a car. I'm in no rush to sell it, this is my daily driver, so I'm just trying to find an interested buyer."

Thanks Mark! That sounds like exactly what i'm looking for and I know its the same everything, but would ideally want the summit (for sentimental purposes).

68K miles is low as hellll, and if you trust the guy then I do too. Due to the holidays, current finances and a few things i have to fix on the eclipse (including a new turvo), it's a little out of my budget (at least right now) and I wouldn't be able to devote enough time for it at the moment.

It seems like he's not in a hurry to sell it so if he still has it later, then it's meant to be but if not, i'm sure another gem will pop up sooner or later within a 500 mile radius. I can't wait to have those 13" wheels and NO power steering! lol. Excellent find though by the way mark! Thanks a TON for keeping an eye out for me - I won't forget that! Cheers brother!

have you tried using http://www.allofcraigs.com ? I used it to find my Colt Galant Wagon. Sure it was located all the way in SC but if you are determined enough like myself, I flew out from WA to drive it back home.
