So i get a letter from the DOL a few days ago, saying that my eclipse was in an impound lot, and that i need to come pay $300 to pick it up, so i called them and told them i had sold it, and had the paperwork to prove it. I them email the kid who bought it asking what the hell happened, here are the emails:

Kipp, whats going on with the eclipse? I got a letter from the department of licensing telling me the car is in the impound lot. Get back to me asap. Thanks.

On Fed 26th, 2006, at 7:10 PM, Kipp Jacobs Wrote:

well the car is toast, but its all taken care of. I had some suspension problems and the car slipped out and flipped. The police towed it away and i guess they called you instead of me. I have talked to the police and everyone else, every thing is squared away. I am very very sorry about the car though. In one week it became my obsession, i am sure it was the same if not more to you.
Sorry and Thanks,
Kipp

FUCK! That was the one thing i had hoped wouldnt happen to the car, i actually feel sick to my stomach knowing that it is totaled.

Don't sell your car to 16 year olds...

I sold it to some 16 year old kid from up in seattle. He seemed like he had some common sense. I dont know how you can flip a car that was an inch off the ground.

I'm surprised the idiot even bought an 11 year old RS for $6,000. You ripped him off, haha! I bought my 95 GS for $2,000 with my current rims.

That is crazy. This is the main reason it sucks that our cars are getting so cheap. Kids can just pick them up and ruin them. Even 2G 4G63, VR4's, etc can be picked up cheap. If I saw a 16 year old driving one around I would be pissed. Not many kids know what to do w/ a sports car whether it has 140HP or 400HP.

and yeah, you gotta be doing some pretty NFSU shit to flip a lowered car like that. although i think that game has replaced drivers ed for most kids these days anyways emoji

shazow1969 flipped his car, though I don't think his was lowered any from stock height. All it takes is going fast, sliding sideways, and hitting something you can't slide over...

The kid was an idiot, but to all of you saying driving age should be higher and stuff... that's just dumb. The problem is anyone can get their license. You don't have to have any drivers training or anything like that. Not even from your parents. That's the real problem. I think driver training should be done in a similiar way to how I think schools should teach programming. Start with the harder stuff. I think schools should teach students ASM, then C, then .Net, not the other way around like most do. Similiarly I think drivers should start out with a manual car with a tight clutch and a lot of power, on a closed track, and be made to master that before they ever get to move to a crown vic with an auto tranny, power steering, and all that other stuff. That's just my 2 cents though.

that's a lovely idea and all.. but who would be paying for all of this? I spend enough money on taxes for road service and there are still more fucking potholes in a mile strip of road than any other state i've been to in my life.

The person that needs the training would pay for it. There should be a tough test that you can take (written and driving) that allows you to bypass the training, but the tests these days are way to easy. I mean 10 questions (1 page front and back) and 3 minutes of driving was all I had to do to get my drivers license. We literally just went around the block once. That's it. That's why there are so many bad drivers on the road.

No point increasing the min driving age. Make the written exam harder. The questions they ask there are jokes. Take other countries for example. People have to go to school to get their drivers license and learn a shit load of theory before they get their license.

When I took my exam they asked me how much I can drink before driving. Instead they should have asked me something like at a busy intersection who has the right of way?

I mean it's even worst people don't even know how to change a spare... Why be surprised that they don't know how to drive...

PS
Too bad the kid trashed the car... not unexpected though.

sorry, i still stand by my statement.

i do agree that our driving tests are a joke..and if a state even requires a course anymore..its usually by the parents which is just as big of a joke. i think i was the last generation that had a mandatory classroom setting.

but the prob here is not testing or education...its attitude and a lack of maturity. thats the plain and simple truth. i dont feel kids today are mature enough to take on such a big task as driving. i know there are a few goodies out there, but its gettin worse by the day. do you think a better education would stop johnny race car wannabe from acting like a fool? no! its not like kids are driving like bat's out of hell, weaving through traffic and doing generally moronic shit. thats a lack of maturity...not a lack or education.

if the issues here were "oopsie i backed into someoen on accident, i didnt use my turn signal, i didnt know how to work a particular intersetion, oops i missed my exit cuz i didnt know what the signs meant..." thats one story. that could be solved with extra training...but no ammount of education is gonna keep the reigns on a car driven by some F&F wannabes.

you can score a 100% on your test and drive perfectly on your exam...but education has no control over wheather you choose to behave like a fucking idiot. and i reitterate...i dont think todays 16 y/o's are mature enough to take on the immense responsibility of driving

Nothing to fix. What car has 40HP? I mean't to put 140HP cause that's what our car has stock and 400 was just a random #. Basically my car BPU'ed.

Um, Im 17 years old and I have a modded GSX and I haven't even taken her over 80mph. Don't be so quick to judge. Only time I've floored it is on freeway onramps. My friends get mad because I ALWAYS drive the speed limit =P.

there are always exceptions, i got my liscence the very first day I could and didn't do anything stupid, it's the person not the age, however since you can't make an exception for the couple good kids you have to screw everyone. I blame the parents for not giving their kids enough sense of responsibility. I think not only should classroom time and on the road training be mandatory but also like one of those 8 hour driver improvement classes on defensive driving, that class really tought me a lot and made me think twice before ever doing anything stupid again.

sorry to hear about your car man that really sucks, though i dont plan to ever sell this, if just say I did, and some kid wrecked it, I think I would be crying right now.

Read it again. It says "NOT MANY kids know what to do w/ a sports car" I'm sure there are many young kids who can drive their asses off but most don't know what they are doing.

The US driving test (both written and practical) is a joke. Mine was less than 5 min (NY), haha, almost empty streets, make a turn here, make a turn there, park, ok here's your license. I hear in NJ the driving test is around cones in a closed area...

Back in my country the driving test is more than an hour and the examiner takes you through the heaviest traffic on the tightest streets and the minimal age is 18 (but you also get to drink at 18). The written test requires knowledge of a ton of roadsigns and rules...

I have the feeling the US minimal age / test rules aim only to get as many new drivers as possible on the market for new cars and gas...

The exam is truly a joke, but the drivers ed class that I took about 4 years ago was fairly beneficial for me. My instructer was this old racist, white guy who drove public busses as a side job. I can honestly say I drive a lot better than 3/4ths of the fucks who are out driving right now... although, driving safe is one thing, driving amongst other idiots without them hitting you, is another.

One of our practice methods consisted of him randomly grabbing the wheel and making the car veer off into the dirt on the side of the road, so we could successfully maneauver out of it without sliding off into a ditch or something... which was fucking crazy mind you. We also had to learn how to drive a stick, which is all I wanted to learn at the time.
