#41611, "A little venting..."

These last weeks are nothing but headaches and frustration in getting my remaining parts for the 2.4L build.

1. AMM dicked me around for a while and I ended up spending more money to reclaim my cylinder head.

2. Crank-Scrapers.com has been dicking me around with my tray/baffle/scraper (ordered around July 4). I called them today and got a tracking number for a package that has been getting postponed every week for who knows what reason. All they give is excuses.

3. I went with AMSOIL to order some NGK BKR7E (qty.12) as I have a preferred account with them and get good prices. Last week I placed an order for NGK 6097 (which are old part numbers but since they did not have the superseding number, 4644, listed I said what the hell) and no word about them until I contacted them yesterday. "Oh, those are discontinued!" What the hell, so you just let the order sit on your desk? How about contacting the customer to let them know? They tell me the newer part is 4644 of course and needed my authorization to charge me for the new order. I said sure! Last night I receive an email saying they are on backorder. Going to order them from Summit now (should have done that in the first place).

I am getting very, very angry.

consider this a preamble for that antique you will be restoring next year! All good things take time. if it were easy, everyone could do it.

Yes, I have had the cylinder head since August now and it I assembled it.

The situation was, and is, ugly.

That's funny/strange. I have not been able to get any for the last 2 weeks in my area. I usually get these from Napa, but nobody has any right now, lol.

And I'm just asking........why didn't you go with the Ishtara crankscraper?

I did - crank-scrapers.com is Ishihara-Johnson. I knew from the get-go it was approximately a 4 week build time as they are build to order.

Sammi & Kevin are the two I have been in contact with and I get excuses and apologies.

Son of a...I had no idea the crankscrapers were built to order. Did they make you a "custom" one for your application? I better put my order in if I want this build to be done before the end of the year. :p

And I had Mike port a head and make me an intake manifold for me also. It took a little bit longer than expected. I just got them back not to long ago, they are nice though.

Definitely put in your order. But due to variations in the 2.4 design you need to know what your setup is exactly. Specify oil pan (which involves what oil pump), pickup, balance shafts or not, and now because of me you have the option of specifying main stud application as the studs extend past the plane of the oil pan flange.

And if you do not mind me asking, by Mike you mean All Motor Mike/Mike Frye?

I'm going with a modified SRT pan altered to make room for the exhaust downpipe. I didn't think a baffle/windage tray set-up from Ishihara would work because I cut the pan down. I was planning on buying just the SRT crank scraper and welding in a modified sheet in the pan as a baffle. But I haven't talked to them yet in regaurds to this, maybe you cleared this up and they started offering something for people going the 2.4 route in a 2g.

And yes, Mike Frye (AMM).

Negative, I am running a full SRT pan. If you cut/notch an SRT pan for downpipe clearance I think the only way to accurately have a baffle setup is to send them the pan after it is modified so they can make one to fit it.

I have a new SRT4 oilpan gasket/OEM scraper if you want it. I will have a couple extra things leftover I believe that you are welcome to for some change and shipping. Before you start accumulating a lot of parts hit me up and I can see what I have extra.

And when exactly did you pay for your head porting and when did you receive it back from him, if you do not mind me asking.
