#41205, "BMW/Mini Dealer mishap turns to good fortune"

My girlfriends car (08 Mini Cooper) had a recall on the cat so we were in Naperville/Chicago area on Saturday. We drop the car off around 11am and plan to have the cat inspected and replaced if necessary per the recall, brakes flushed, oil change, and tires rotated and balanced. They tell us no problem we'll have it done by the end of the day which is 6pm when they close.

So we decide to go to downtown Naperville to get some lunch and walk around the historic area and riverwalk etc. We get tired and decide to head back to the dealer about 4:30pm in hope they might wrap things up earlier than estimated...WRONG. Turns out when we got back the service advisor tells us that the tech is just now getting the cat off and that it was a PITA to get off...I understood. Mind you we've had Sophia our 6month old daughter with us all day. So the guy gives us the option of either going back home and picking the car up Monday or Tuesday when it is finished (yeah no thanks, we live 2-1/2 hours away) or hanging in there and staying a little late to get it done. I told him to do everything possible to get it done, we don't want to drive the crappy Chevy Aveo that Enterprise gave us for the day. So he throws another tech on it to speed things up and ensures us they'll have it done.

About an hour later almost 6pm closing time, he comes back to us and tells us that the tech messed up the threads on our O2 sensor and there's no way they can finish the car today. So he says I'll be right back, when he returned he tells me "Well, we don't have any Mini's left to loan out today, so we'll get you in a BMW." I'm thinking okay sweet, this won't be too bad then.

He comes back and says "You're gonna love this, we're giving you an 09 335i turbocharged, its a sick car." Also tells me we won't have to drive back as they will bring our Mini to us and drive the BMW back. Now that's what I call doing everything you can for your customer in a worst case scenario.

I've never been teased with a car this bad before, I'm gonna miss the fucker when they come and pick it up.

That is a tease. Last I remember the 09 335i is twin-turbocharged rated at 300hp/300lbs/ft (factory).

Mmmmmm.... tasty.

That kicks serious ass! the turbo 335's are the reason that the M3 stepped up to a v8 engine.

You sir, are correct. emoji It is an automatic, but the slap stick and paddle shifters on the wheel make it fun.

Pretty much a once in a lifetime deal here. I don't want to give it up!
