It's probably been a year since that thread was up about posting pictures of your house, but I'm finally getting around to posting pics of ours. Just too bad our landlords are flaking on the deal we made to purchase it this November at market place. Something about how they can't afford to lose $50K or something. Ah well. Went house hunting today and will hopefully get something in time to get some of our tax dollars back before the end of November.

Looking into the kitchen from the living room doorway. "Ghetto room" out the patio doors. (Yes. That one card reads "Happy Birthday Dyke." It's a lesbian anniversary card my gay brother-in-law gave his sister.)

Looking into the dining area from just inside the kitchen.

Looking into the living room from the kitchen doorway. Up close, you can see Dino, Greg, and Thura behind V and I in the picture on the mantle at left.

Looking into the living room from the front door. Center framed picture on the wall has Dan (FlyinESI), my LilDR1665, me, and Thura. Top picture in that frame has Dino, Mr and Mrs 992gnt, Mr and Mrs thediceman, VegasDSMer, taloniized, Kaizer, FlyinESI, and the now infamous Jen.

Looking back towards the living room from Vanessa's office. Her cousin painted those pictures when he was trippin balls. Also, $90K worth of paperwork cheaply framed.

Vanessa's desk.

The main bathroom. There's Rubber Duckie, Love Duckie, Devil Duck, and Duckus Maximus.

Looking towards the master bath across our unmade bed. Bishi wondering what I'm doing.

Not the biggest master bath in the world, but decent. Those are wedding flowers there. Surprised they've held up this long.

View down the side of the house into the back yard. Mia coming to annoy me. Note how our front door is actually on the side. Also note the zero property line feature, where the neighbor's house actually forms the property line. Interesting, but odd.

So there you have it. There's a couple pictures of my garage www.dr1665.com/2009/06/2cg-doesnt-necessarily-mean-two-cars-fit/ if you're interested in that.

We were really hoping that we could pick this house up for $80K or less this November, putting over $6K down and enjoying our $8K home buyer credit a few months afterwards, but since the landlords are flaking, it looks like we're officially house hunting again. This time, we buy exactly the house we want and nobody says anything different. Here's to a pool and a 3CG! I'll post when there's any news about the search.

Nice!

Sorry to hear about the landlord troubles.

But if you feel like waiting until next year to buy, they are getting it to a 15K tax credit and until the end of '10. I dont think the bill has actually went into effect yet, but several banks are starting to advertise it and my bank told me it may be better to wait until things are more concrete about the 15k emoji

Laters!

Pretty common in cookie cutter mid-line housing. Both sides of the house I'm renting are like that. Hell, the wall that houses my neighbors front gate is connected to my house. Thankfully it's the kids room. I hear ya on the fucktard owner thing. I'm still fighting to hear from mine and I just got a notice in the mail that they didn't pay their HOA dues. wo0t.

$15K you say? emoji Hmmmm...

One thing that sucks about the $15k deal is that anyone can qualify. My realtor told me that 1500 homes sold in Phoenix in January. 7400 sold last month. 80% of those went to investors.

So if less than 80% of the homes are already going to investors who will drive the values right back up again (good for you if you're in the house, of course), it seems stupid to come up with any sort of program which encourages more investors to buy more properties.

If I'm bidding on a short sale, I don't need some guy from New York who already owns five houses in Phoenix stepping in with cash to fuck me.

Meh.

We shall see. Of the more than 50 homes I've looked up online in the past week, only ONE has been neither foreclosed or short sale.

good luck B. did you guys have some sort of contract to buy or rent to buy going with the landlord? what kind of legal implications are they involved in, if for any other reason than to get all your invested monies back. at the very least, take everything you can from the house to recoup your losses, that or cause some damage to get back at the douchey landlord. emoji

finding a house that is not short sale or foreclosed on is gonna be a challenge in this market.

Awesome dude! I don't think I ever posted pictures of my house, but it's like 90 years old hah. It was a farm house back when the land north of 8 mile was 'the country' and people used to come up to ride horses and picnick. not much to do in the early 1900's I guess!

As far as I know, that statement is incorrect. It is a first time home buyers credit (assuming you meant to be talking about the current $8k credit). Also for those of you who bought a house last year and received the home buyers credit, just so you're aware, that was a loan from the government which you'll be paying back (via your tax return) over the next 15 (I think) years. This year's 8k credit will not have to be paid back.

More info, this years 8k will have to be paid back if you sell the home within 3 or 5 years. I forget which one, as my first time homebuyers class for Greenville County is the same way. One of them is 3 and the other is 5.

Plus side is that if you keep the house for that long, then the money is yours!
