#39763, "finally working again"

Got a job TIG welding less than a mile from my house. pay is decent and I only work with two people so it's kick back for sure. I was really praying for work and well, it fell right in my lap.

good job man, i know how hard it is to get a job in welding right now. im cwb certified and ive been to about 40 shops and its the same story everywhere, most shops have laid a few guys off so really are not hiring. I just had an interview and weld testing yesterday for a job that builds and repairs a few US military vehicles so hopefully i hear back from them. what kind of stuff are you building?

Thank you mobil one for rust proofing my driveway.

I hear ya man. Ive been on a number of Military contracts repairing and building trailers and such but those seemed to fall through the easiest (at least for me because im just a worker bee to them). I went the contractor route and now owe 1600$ to the government but hey, I did what I had to survive. Im just not experienced enough in business to take that route right now... and im happier as just a working welder.

im building railings and gates for residential stuff. Im artsy fartsy as shit too so I hope i'll get to integrate some of my ideas into some future projects. Ive been wanting to get into the more blacksmithy side of welding (professionally paid side that is) for awhile now, so this is just an answer to a multi-layered prayer. im so stoked.

what im even more stoked about is that its part time, the owner Tim realizes whats important and that's his family so he does what he needs to, isnt a dick about it, and goes home as early as he can. stand up guy.

ill eventually go the CWI route I think...and weld choppers or something on the side for fun. I already have a frame jig and some 4130 in the garage at my new pad. Have you guys seen the kikker hardknocks? Id like to build something like that with some balls...

Josh, didn't know you were out of a job. Sorry to hear. I'd give you some business, if you're ever willing to make a motor mount for me.

Good to see you stayed positive.

I just imagine welding a tube chassis when welding fishmouthes emoji ah tube welding is the shit. the carbon steel though, it's so smooth and not as super critical as some of the other intense alloys ive been welding. im using all my own welding gear too so im super comfortable and know the machine real well.

tiggin everyday again emoji emoji
