#38430, "anyone remember the guy claiming to be from the future?"

Does anyone here remember like 3,4,5 years back, there was this dood who posted on a forum claiming he was from the future and he came back to look for a specific computer. He had a lot of people believing him and he posted pictures of his time machine and the uniform he was wearing and stuff like that.

People also asked him about what would happen in the future and I know he made some predictions about 08 or 09. I just wanted to see if anyone ever proved this guy to be fake and want to see if anyone of his predictions were right.

I know people believed him because he did seem very smart and could answer a lot of complex questions. I always theorized that it was actually a group of people (maybe even some type of college project) who orchestrated the whole thing.

John Titor is the man you refer to.

THe funny thing is, he's the only time traveler that nobody could debunk. His many worlds string theory that parralleled the Wheeler-Graham string theory of quantum physics.

His predictions? The eventual collapse of the US banking system. The stock market. Mad Cow Disease. A US Civil war? HA! In 2005? HA!

His civil war of the US that was to happen in 2005 is now more believable than ever before. He mentioned the LHC large hydron collider that finally DID happen this year in Switzerland that was built by CERN. He stated that research by CERN would accidently discover that you could travel THROUGH the black holes being created.

He was just a little late on the more alarming predictions of our world.

He DID say that the next election would be the start of all these terrible things he predicted. But, everyone assumed he meant 2004, when he very well could have just meant the next newly elected official, or next presidency, not term.

I've been following him, and I this past year, I have read more than ever since the events that have unfolded since October of 2008, the recession, etc.

Particle Collider: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Hadron_Collider

John Titor: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Titor

By the by, TITOR is not his real name. Titor is simply "time traveller" simplified. This is explained if you really go in dept and read ALL the old IRC chats and when he tried faxing Art Bell a diagraphm of his plans.

I can prove hes either not smart or not from the future:

he didnt buy a winning lottery ticket upon arrival, and powerball was up in the 100+ million range.

But with the inevitability of a US civil war and the collapse of United States financial institutions in *cough* 2004 there would be no point in having that much money!!

Didn't Einstein say that if time travel were possible he would know about it because someone would have come back from the future and visited him?

In November of 2000, Titor was talking about things that were well into 3-4 years way before it could have been guessed or hoaxed. He knew you could regrade that IBM 5100 before the Smithsonian Institute acknowledged this fact by "fans" 2 years later in 2002.

Most ask why he didn't mention 9/11. His many worlds theory debunks it and most other problems with his story (of course, right?)

What people don't realize is the simple fact that IF something in history is changed in the past, you and I don't know about it.

This is simply because we are born into it and accept it as reality, and not as being altered. Something cannot always be realized as being "changed" if you never knew it was different. The definition of change cannot exist if there is no known change.

OK, J/P. But if someone was to do this it would be way to easy to prove it. Just so much that they could do to prove it from media to advanced technology to.....oh so many things. Just because some con man came up and said the world is gonna end blah blah blah. Sorry Charlie, only for the "Nigerian swayed" masses. But hey, maybe John Rempel could help you out.

If you can't see it or use your senses to know something's there, then it isn't. Right? (Air, gases, bacteria, molecules, atoms, etc.)

More people should pay attention to CERN. It's not that unbelievable anymore to dismiss quantum physics or wormholes.

People are afraid or dismiss things they immediately cannot understand.

Just as everybody knew the world was flat.

Time travel is *possible*, but it would only be into the future. That is well known throughout physics. However, unfortunately time travel to the past is not possible due to the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

Hey look! I'm doing it now! I just traveled 15 seconds into the future.

You're backwards and upside down on that one, bud. You can only go into the past and it's quantum physics that dictates the relationship between a string and a tangent travelling through a wormhole. That sounded sexual, I know.

Yes, leading physicists believe it is possible to travel back in time, but if you change something, you just create a parallel reality/universe, so if you kill your father in the past, you would not exist in an alternate universe, but you would still in a different one. Other extremely interesting things they are finding is that if you make a choice based on what some atom in your head is doing,(say whether to go left or right and you choose left) you have just made a so called "quantum leap" and you know have now done both and neither at the same time. At the quantum level, a single atom can exist in several different places at the same time and go backwards and forward in time, because space constantly tearing and tiny wormholes are constantly opening. Read into string theory and m-theory to learn more. Time travel into the future has been proven possible as well as most people know. the closer you travel to the speed of light, the slower time passes for you (from an observers point of view) Time will pass normal to you, but everyone who is, say, on earth if you are in space, will have time pass extremely fast. There are so many things that we don't understand in the world/universe or even what time/space really is and what it all means. Even Einstein said that the world of quantum mechanics was "spooky". It's all going to be on the discovery of the Graviton that's going to change it all. We are evolving every day and the more we learn, the more we understand that there is nothing too wild or weird. Things that were 100% science fiction 100 years ago, are now science fact. What will we see in the next 100 years????? I am not here to say this guy is real or fake, but only to keep my mind open to the possibility of anything is turning out to be possible.

Ok, ok, ok. Sucking me in just a little further, Kaptain.

Right now, in this case, theory schmeory means nothing. Its really very simple and easy to prove.

Now, I am pretty open-minded. I'm willing to listen to the outer space stories etc (and hey, its well known that I like tranny's. I've said it before on here. That's proof that I'm open minded emoji ). But guys, if a gentleman wants to represent himself as a "time traveler", just come up with something concrete. How about a simple advanced technology piece.

We all have blackberry's etc. Well, 35 years ago when I was just a young lad and you showed me a microprocessesor that would fit in your hand (damn, if you just showed me a microprocesser at that point, lol), I would be blown away. Now don't you think in 35 years from now there would be technology that would be far beyond what we can do now? Of course. So don't beat around the bush, show me something concrete from your "original time zone". lol.

Future direct birth prediction (of any individual). Future direct death date (of any individual). Date of a company collapse. Hell, name Obama as the president.

Damn guys, as I write this, I just can't believe that you can't identify a con man. And there is no reason for the "Matrix" concept of what is a "real" reality. Simple cold hard item.

Maybe he wasn't here to prove he was from the future? Maybe he just wanted to fuck with a bunch of old outdated primitive humans... lol J/K Say he is real, what difference does it make? Are the people who believe supposed to wear raincoats or something?? It's a neat story though, they should make a low budget movie out of it where you can see the camera guys reflection in the time machine door emoji

You know... All this talk of string/M theory, some of you guys should look into reading a book called "The Cosmic Landscape" very good insight into the workings of string theory without all the math. It didn't make my head explode.

The thing that grabs me is this: Titor had well over 18% direct spot on predictions. Not even the best psychics or fortune tellers in the world can top that at their 5%.

Gray area.

BUT, you give me the benefit of direct hindsight and my predictions should be at least 99% (I'll give 1% for screw ups). And these wouldn't be predictions. They would be statement of fact.

Again, easy to prove just give me something concrete.

Is there a list of what he was right about vs wrong about?

I mean, many things are easy to predict only looking forward 5-10 years.

Is the author of http://www.amazon.com/Great-Bust-Ahead-Depression-Understanding/dp/159196153X from the future because he was able to predict market trends and make an educated assessment of what he believe will happen in the years to come? He also predicts the huge bust between 2010-2011 - exactly where we're headed. The book was first released in 2002.

October 2007 Update: In 2002 when this book was published, in addition to the massive depression beginning around the end of the decade, it forecast:
1. The economy, as reflected by the DJIA, would resume its upwards march in late 2002 or 2003. This is exactly what happened.
2. The DJIA would have a snapback to 13,000 to 14,000 and the FTSE to 6,000 to 7,000 by 2004, but delayed possibly by wars/politics/terrorism/scandals. This is exactly what has happened. Although the full snapback has been delayed for the reasons described, the DJIA has now closed over 14,100 and the FTSE over 6,700.
3. The DJIA returns from 2003 to 2012 would average a historically long-term normal of 7% to 8%. So far, with the delayed full snapback for the reasons described, DJIA actual returns have averaged a more modest 5.8%, as would be expected.
4. Interest rates would increase from 2003 onwards. This is exactly what has happened.
