#37936, "New Wiki article; Lexan Sunroof Delete"

I wanted to let you guys know I posted another article up on the wiki;

http://www.2gnt.com/index.php?d=Lexan_Sunroof_Delete

This is just to keep you guys thinking about the wiki. It has a wealth of info on it. Feel free to brouse through it on occasion. I see posts on here from time to time that could be immediately answered by an article in the wiki (hell, even just a pic within an article in the wiki)

Eh, truth be told, I'm a self centered, self important, egotistical raging narcissist. So whenever I do something, er ANYTHING, I want some notice.

But you knew that already emoji

Weld what, the Lexan ?!?

Moving on, good job on the install. And I think you're right about having a trim ring, like say a nice piece of polished aluminum. Mmmm, polished aluminum emoji

Solid.

I'll probably have something similar to that in the future, as 195 can't have a sunroof at all, so I'm taking it out.

I wrote in the wiki that it is water resistant, not water proof. Because of the "rope" I put in there, It does keep water out (say a rain storm or something), but I can't imagine taking it through a car wash without it leaking some. This is more of a race car/specialty driven idea.

The rear Lexan hatch that I did, doesn't leak. But I would still consider that water resistant, not water proof.

Kinda get a chuckle out of the exchange here.

The idea of the articles in the Wiki, is to help others to DIY (or at least understand what it takes to DIY). If you start talking about just welding a piece in, you're talking about specialized equipment with specialized skills. That's not something that most can do (well I can do it, but the 5 pounds of slag would not look that great, lol).

In my circle of race friends, this is something that people were interested in. They offered to pay me to help them out. And here I am giving it out for free emoji

That brings up the age old adage of "Why be a slut when you can be a whore?"

Lol, no animosity intended emoji

I still standby my original assertion that you don't weld Lexan.

It looks awesome like it came stock. What I meant was instead of using a rubber seal around the aluminum sheet, weld instead. For those that have access and know how to weld.

Or you use a piece of carboard like this guy, He swapped it out after.

I know its useless just thought was abit informative.

Freakin swet write-up. This solves my sunroof decision. I don't think people apperciate how difficult it would be to weld on our roofs without warping them. Can you say stitch-welding?
