#37832, "RS-T or GSX"

I have a 95 rs with a turbo kit that is almost fully installed running 7psi. My goal is to have a low 11 or high 10 second 2g dsm car.My question is,should i stick with the fwd 420a and keep building it up or should i get rid of it and get a gsx? As of right now i am leaning more towards the gsx because it is awd. On the street it is going to be very hard to get traction with my rs. With a gsx, well its awd. The car is going to be driven on the street. What should i do?

The HRC Eclipse was the fastest 2GNT to date. Bill clicked off high tens with it. Compare how built your car is to how built the HRC car was and you pretty much have your answer to the first question.

As for being in the 11-10 second range with any car, expect to be spending a lot more than you already have. I don't care if it's AWD or not, each second off your ET costs more than the one before it. With a 2G, you're starting with a 7-bolt, which is the least desirable of the 4G63s. You're going to need a clutch, axles, transmission work, and the turbo alone is going to run you more than a grand. Hell, you can expect to pay as much as $200 for each of your fuel injectors at that level.

If you really want a good chance at 11s with a GSX, one of our moderators is looking to sell his very clean 98/99 GSX with all kinds of mods for something like $13,000.

Keep the 2GNT or get a GSX. Either way, talking times is for the track. Nothing wrong with tracking the car to see what it will do, but building a "ten second car for the street" is just asking for trouble.

for the on the street part i just want to show them z28 camaros that they arent the fastest cars on the street. Around here everyone either has a z28 or an i-roc and they always like pulling up next to me and i dont even try to race them because i wont get any traction. With a gsx i should be able to launch on them easily and start pulling some car lengths like nothing. On the track i think that my car with slicks, axles and a better turbo and fuel setup, i will be able to beat a gsx.

I'm assuming they all have the required mullet too?

BTW, IMO you don't need a high 10 low 11 second car to surprise most things on the road. A nice deep 12 second car would be plenty for most competition and is at least fast enough to get respect from the majority of enthusiasts (i.e. the ones who aren't completely full of themselves)

IMO, you should keep the rs. Look into the HRC Eclipse a bit more and you will see why. Personally, I think that the 420a is stronger than a 4g63, and just as capable.

No offense, but if this is the only reason you want a 10 or 11 second car to "show off"...you're in this hobby for the wrong reason. Sure, we all at some point wouldn't mind stickin it to a camaro, mustang, or what have you, (if our car is built for that potential to hang with them) but this sort of thing should not be condoned on the street. I don't care who instigates it, talks trash, or wants to street race. This kind of stuff you save for the track. Bottom line.

Perhaps, you might want to hope the gsx owner doesn't know how to drive his car that well. All I can say now is research, save money, and good luck.

Decide for yourself. Everyone will have a different opinion on it, but they aren't the ones contemplating.

I know, I just wanted to hear some different opinions. I love my car and I know it from front to back now. I like taking it to car shows and winning trophies too. I just wish it was awd.

Just buy a gsx already.

You already know what car is better suited for "spirited" driving.

ok I have a GST and a RS. The RS makes a great DD a RSt makes a better one emoji 11 second cars are a bitch to drive around town. Heavy ass clutch, Shitty idle and crappy gas mileage.

my buddy has a 11 sec gsx it also has a $8000 engine

my other friend has a pretty much stock GSX. All we did so far was add a upper hard pipe. A greddy knock off BOV, and the free mods bcs removal and cut the dump tube. Added a filter. it feels fast on the topend.

We will build you bigger and stronger

Wake up and drive my ass... More like wake up and fix it.
