Very consdering it, found a place they pay for the CDL training etc. and hires after 3-4 week CDL schooling guarentee 35-40k a year, Here's their earning Mileage Pay rate
Length of Employment Pay Rate Projected Income*
0-3 months $0.26 $8,450
3-6 months $0.27 $8,775
6-9 months $0.30 $9,750
9-12 months $0.31 $10,075

* Projected income is based on an average of 2500 miles per week.

after one year its .32 a mile

Over the road training pay

after CDL training there's 4-6 week road training with company driver to learn the ropes, and 300 a week til completion.

Would you consider this a decent career change

Why and the heck would you want to be a trucker? You are rarely home and get to see family and shit. Its a boring life IMO.

Go to college. You may not drive a rig unless you have a monkey.

What he said.

Although...

COOL
- Huge fucking Cat diesel power at your disposal.
- Endless road trip
- See the country
- Good chance to save money otherwise spent on rent/utilities

NOT COOL
- Huge fucking truck to navigate through traffic in town.
- Endless road trip (cabin fever)
- See the country (from the highway)
- Good chance to get talked into leasing a truck you can't afford

What if the economy continues to slow? Think about it. People buy less stuff, so companies make less stuff, meaning less trucks are needed to haul the less stuff to less people who will buy. Pay for training only to get in the door and get laid off with a fat lease on a truck you have no use for, imo.

Want to do something cool? Call the local news station and tell them you're going to drive across the country to interview grease monkeys like yourself and can they help you get funds to do so or something like that. emoji
