Technically, a recession is 2 consecutive quarters of losses. While we haven't had that yet, we probably will. So we aren't in a recession yet (if you go by the literal definition) but we sure as shit will be (at least its very, very likely)

Right after the Shootout, I was reading through some of the regional newspapers online. Like in Milan and whatnot. I saw one of them had a poll to vote in...

Why do you people are leaving the area?
- No jobs
- Nothing to do here
- etc
- etc

I think that kinda says it all, right there.

At the same time, in those smaller communities where the cost is living, they could be grooming students for telecommuting and being something of a domestic outsourcing firm. It's already being done in Montana, actually.

Seriously, if houses were under $150k, I could live comfortably on $36k. Too bad there aren't really any jobs like this in the smaller towns where $36k goes a long way. Supposing I could telecommute (I could do my entire job online, personally), I could move to a quieter, smaller town, and live happily ever after.

Don't know why there isn't more talk of this sort of thing...
