LOL That's pretty cool.
I didn't read the article...and I'm not smart enough to know otherwise, but it seems like that robot could be programed so it would work in any wifi hotspot, therefore be controlled from any computer with internet access.

Damn this is taking me back to my days when I took communications/network and we built a campus cruising robot. It used a rf transmitter that we picked up on tv. We use to chase the chicks around campus and it had various things on it like a water squirter and huge ass tires, 180* wireless camera, dc motor, 6 wheel drive, 6 axis arm, ect. The tower had pulse width modulation leds controlled again by a pic that we programmed (servos were too). I never thought about wifi, but the only problem you would have with it is noise/distance and trying to link up on other peoples networks when far away. The wifi would be great for short distances like spying on the neighbors and what not.
Always wanted to build the Home Alone rc robot. Anyone remember that movie?
