Nobody wants them because they are "hard" to find parts for.
I went to advanced a week or so ago to get plugs, wires, and an oil pan gasket. Nowhere to be found.
I jump on ebay. Plugs and wires for $60 shipped, pan gasket for $30 shipped. I've learned quite a bit about my car in the past month or so.
I'm rebuilding my factory lsd with thicker clutch packs from mazdatrix when i get my tax return as well as throwing on some jdm powered by max coilovers. Pillowball upper mounts, camber and caster adjust, preload adjustable, slammage without sacrificing travel and powered by max also offers different spring rates. Not bad for $1200 shipped. Then i'm on to slapping an oem clutch on, widebody, Staggered 18x10 (+12) asa jh8's in the rear and 17x8.5 (+20) asa jh8's up front. $160 per wheel.
As far as steering, an ebay 320mm steering wheel and hub adapter will work. Mazdatrix steering angle/anti bump steer kit for $180, supernow! extended tie rods for $200 and a tcs sportline rear camber arm for $100 covers the rest of the suspension unless i can find bn sports or battle garage toe arms..... Speaking of toe, rx7's have dynamic toe steering system which is like hicas but passive. Eliminator bushings are only $50. A cheap ebay seat and legit takata harness will be holding me in place. I can't stand my stock seats. I'm all over the place trying to brace myself against the wheel....
Next year, i'm only spending about $3000 total on the car. I was going to do my turbo II swap but i dont need power to drift, just bolt ons, some timing advance and some fuel trim adjust with an rtek ecu ($500 pnp). If anyone is interested, my build thread is here.

I found a first gen talon tsi awd that i'm going to take on as another project soon. It was parked next to my red rx7 at the junkyard. I asked about it last week and he only wants $300 for it. Dent free, pretty clean, intact interior, clean engine bay and there's still air in the tires. It looks abolutely sick. Just needs a good ol 14b, manifold, j pipe, afm, interfooler and some other misc crap. Compression was good when we turned it over and it is a 5 speed. Gear shifter was smooth. Clutch worked (surprisingly) Turbo system was removed and it's now n/t but i did grab an smic i used on my 2gnt from it so they didn't grab anything. Needs a rebuild and an overhaul but as soon as i get my parts car out of here, i'm buying it. I've always been a sucker for a first gen.
PS, i lost that bid on those teins. Fucker kept outbidding as soon as i bid. I found i can use 240 (s14 coilovers) if i change the upper mounts but that would just cost the same as fc coils.
Tossing a custom widebody on as well. Possibly sooner than later and instead of paint, i'm going with a full single color vinyl. I can't justify spending money on paint when vinyl will look just as good and is easier to fix in the event of a wall tap.
Goodnight sweetheart...yes its time to go...bum bum bum bum bum...good night sweetheart yes I am one little a$$hole......bum bum bum bum....
