Just wanted to share pics of the new addition since I think I forgot to when all the posts around the DSM boards were being made in regards to the shootout:
he picked this thing out at petco the night we got him:
We picked him up last week. He's 7 years old and is so far quite good. For the most part quiet and follows me around everywhere. An old woman was giving him away b/c she's moving somewhere she couldn't take him so having wanted a dachsund, but not having the time right now to get one we have to train, it was a good compromise. He's a bit on the chubby side but is already losing weight since we got him

Haha, I think thats awesome. Besides, getting a puppy is a pain in the ass. Ours just turned a year and she is a maltese/king charles spaniel mix. Potty training was a huge amount of work. Luckily we had wood floors. Good luck!

Just mind his weight as he ages, you don't want him to end up lame, like most Basset Hounds, do. (Yes I know he is a dachshund, but they have similar problems, blindedness and the inability to walk due to excessive core weight as they age.)
