That's right, it's Slash's birthday today. The amazing guitarist/rockstar of Guns 'n Roses, Velvet Revolver and other various projects turns 43 today.
lets play some guitar (or guitar hero) and live the rockstar lifestyle in his honor today.

I like a couple of the Velvet Revolver songs. Have you heard any of his solo stuff? good stuff there.
my current favorite gutarist right now is Buckethead, that guy has the ability to play over so many genres it makes my head spin.

John Petrucci (Probably the greatest technical guitarist I have had the pleasure of hearing) and Steve Vai; Those are mine. Also, I have to agree with Dino about Velvet Revolver.

I saw Petrucci last year on the G3 tour; not impressed. Every song sounded exactly the same, and there was no emotion to the playing. Technically he's amazing, but I enjoyed Satriani and Gilbert FAR more. Vai was amazing when I saw him a few years ago, and seriously the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. I like Slash, but he shouldn't be on that list...

Satriani is absolutely amazing, I've got most of his albums. never heard Petrucci. Steve Vai is good but most of what I've heard from him sounds like rehashed Stevie Ray Vaughn.
