I just started my serious training for my first half marathon October 11th in San Antonio. I have been running about 3-4 miles 5 days a week for about 2 months now (started running on the treadmill back in January) but it's time to step it up.
Ultimate goal is to run the 26.2 this time next year...We will see how that goes. I need to drop another 10-15 to get down to 180ish

Used to run a lot but I've been slacking this year. Never did a full marathon but I've done marathon relays and used to do a half-marathon on my "long run" days.

I used to run short distances under a mile. I'd hate to see what would happen if I tried running over a mile now. I think my last timed mile was 5:50 when I was 14. I'd be happy finishing a mile now.

Exact program I am following.
Is the area your running really hilly? It is just a whole other aspect when you run somewhere that is really up and down. Some people add in the aspect of running with lowered oxygen intake. I do a bit of my workouts with a mouth guard and it drastically changes how gassed out you feel afterwards. I mainly just do that with my jiu jitsu training but it seems to help with all aspects of aerobic exercise.
