My buddy gutted his cat a long time ago, and now is getting the infamous CEL. Well, his car has also started missing, and he swears that it is making the car hesitate and die. I told him that the rear o2 monitors the efficiency of the cat (unless I don't know something bout the SRT's).
He wants to wire in the resistor on it, but I can't find the link. When I try to search it sends me back to the forums home page which is frustrating!
Any help is appreciated!

2nd 02 is only there to make sure the cat is there (for emissions only)..
get a spark plug de-fouler.. or tell him to buy a stage 1 computer (which doesnt read the 2nd o2)... if he gets stage 1, he can remove the 2nd 02, but will have to keep the connector plugged together so the circuit remains "closed".....
the missing is prolly his spark plug gap (should be 0.035 on stock turbo, stock boost) and/or a plug wire issue....
cheers....
p.s. i've owned my srt for over 4 years (if you need a credibility check) and owned my dsm for 4+ years prior to the 4....
03 srt-4 13.130@112.47mph (n2o, stock turbo, 10/2003) now: 20g, portfueler, bpu+++ (track/dyno times tbd...) i farted on your wiki

I'm with Sean on this one. 99% of misfiring SRT-4's are due to fried plugs and wires and the fuck wit owners that don't keep fresh ones in there. They eat through them like candy. It sounds like the car isn't modded much so a set of NGK 4306's gapped correctly for his boost levels ought to be fine. I'm not picky about plug wires and just have some AutoZone Duralast wires with a lifetime warranty. When it's time to change plugs I just have them give me a new set of wires for free.
As for the CEL, do you or he know for sure it's for converter inefficiency? Do a key dance for the P codes. If it's just for the cat than drill out a spark plug non fouler (found in AutoZone's Help! section) and screw it into the O2 bung on the downpipe then the O2 sensor into it.

Little known fact. the SRT4s use the same plugs as the nonturbo 2.4's which are too hot. change for a fresh set of NGK's that are a heat range colder.

As long as the gap is brought down a little the 4306's will perform perfectly. I'd personally go colder if the car was running Stage 3r or some other aftermarket turbo.
