#32570, "Any weight training or sports nutritionists get in here."

Okay here is the rundown. I am trying to help out a guy I know with something he is working towards. Here is the rundown of whats up. I had my son's first birthday party today and a member of the family that I havent seen in about 6 years showed up randomly. He is 28 years old and I guess has been training to get into the Professional MMA and work his way slowly into the UFC I guess. Anyway, reason I havent seen him is because he has been staying in California training pretty hard I guess. Now, I do the normal weight training/dieting but nothing at all like this dude. Make a long story short. He weighs 250lbs and is big. He had asked me if I had known of anything LEGAL to help him get shredded up. I told him the only thing that I know of was Hydroxycut which of what I used about a year and a half ago. He said that wasnt strong enough for him. He cannot use any type of injection because it shows on his drug screens he has to have to compete, but he said he can take something oral through a syringe or something and be okay. Anyway, I am not looking for a bash or anything here. If you have any info of anything that I can pass along to him, please join in and discuss of anything you know about to help him get shredded up please. I dont know much about anything because in reality, I do not like the look of hardcore cut muscles, but each to their own you know.

Thank you.

I think fat and looking for weeks, not months.

EDIT: I have been searching around for about an hour online and cannot really find anything besides injections and like I said, he cannot use those I guess. I personally dont even know if they have anything out there that will help him get like he wants, but I know there are some knowledgable (sp?) guys here, so I thank you very much for your help.

EDIT 2: This is about the only stuff I came across.

see "Roids" is only for adding muscle, it really dosent do much for shredding a physic.
also if hes into UFC then he hould be concerned more with moscle stamina before strength.

go to the book store and look for the book "HUGE" by Flex Magazine
any buy a copy of the "Anabolic Primer" as well

weeks is gonna be tough to do if he dosent have a deep wallet. unfortunatly this could cost close to $600 for the month!
cuz hes gonna need to crank-up his metabolism the right way and that requires a bunch of specialised amino acids and specialized suplements.

best i might be able to do would be 30 days emoji and he has to be religious about this
so here we go
try http://www.advantagesupplements.com/

he needs every day: 3g protein per pound of body weight
pre workout: Whey protein, a Nitric oxide booster and CEE Creatine (ie No-Xplode from BSN)
post workout: whey protein, Casein protein, Vitargo, CEE Creatine (ie Cell mass from BSN)

4 eggs and 2 cups oatmeal for breakfast, then eat 5-6 times through out the day. a morning snack and afternoon snack should be whey protein shakes.
low carbs high protein for 4 days, then a high carb low protein for the 5th day. every 2 cycles the 6th day is a cheat day.
rinse and repeat. this shocks the bodys metabolism and keeps it guessing and forces it to burn its fat stores

in addition to chicken, fatty fish, and red meat, he can have as much Kiwi's and Watermellon as he wants for snacks (usually 2-3 cups watermellon or 3 kiwis)

the additional suplement stack would be: (take as directed!)
Caffine anhydrous
Green tea extract
Forkskolin
L-Carnatine
Red pepper extract (hot sauce to put on pretty much every thing he eats)
Ginger (fresh pickled stuff from the Sushi bar)
Sesamin
TTA (Tetradecylthioacetic acid)
Calcium
Selinium
Zinc (look for a product labled "ZMA")
L-Glutamine
L-Arginine
Glucomannan
5-HTP

Workouts:
ever hear of Cross Fit?
Navy SEALs and Marine Corps love it. (my buddy is a FMF Corpsman and he swears by this stuff)
it is gaurenteed to BEAT YOUR ASS in 6 weeks at a 3 days on 1 day off schedual
http://www.petranekfitness.com/cms/ and you can see the "work out of the day"

example workout:
"The Murph" (complete in 32-40 min)
1-mile run
100 pull-ups
200 push-ups
300 squats
1-mile run

The Iron is the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. Always there like a beacon in the pitch black. I have found the Iron to be my greatest friend. Wow heading toward Kidney failure(s) aren't we...

If you want to look "cut" try swimming or running (anything aerobic). No amount of food, or illegal substance short of a 20$ crack rock will make you look cut in that short amount of time.

Eating excess proteins will only cause your liver and kidneys to work harder than it should.

There is a science behind training... Make an appointment with someone that knows what they are talking about and has a real credential (ie: bachelors of science or above) from the American College of Sports Medicine to back it up. Stay away from your average "personal trainer" that works at the 24 hour fitness.

Much like a tailored suit, training regiment varies from individual to individual and as a result must be customed.

At what point are you considering protein consumption "excessive"? I do feel that anything over 1.5-2.0 grams of protein per pound of body weight is overkill. Your body can only naturally absorb so much protein in a given time. Why it's been proven by scientists it's good to vary the kinds of protein you consume i.e whey (short absorbing) and such as casein (slow absorbing) and stagger that consumption throughout the entire day. Optimum Nutrition (brand) makes a very good protein blend that I HIGHLY recommend called Pro-Complex that I take. I by no means actually consume 1g/1lb of protein, but I do try to fill in between meals with protein shakes and pre/post workout. I don't highly recommend creatine because of the effects it can have on your body and it's filtering system.

Moderation is important in long term training, and allowing your body to recover naturally and fully when injured. If your looking for a quick "get me to where I want to be/ let the ends justify the means" kinda workout.. well.. your going to put some major stress on your body. I've learned over the years what works for me and allows me to get results in a more natural fashion. Caffeine and Ephedra work as great bronchiole-dilators that do allow me to run farther and faster than I can without them. I cycle everything I take, and it's necessary to trick your body. Your body is a very adaptive machine and the more you push it, the more it can push back. Run a lot and your bones become accustomed to that, lift a lot of weights, your body learns to do that more efficiently. There is no quick fix in training.. to be completely honest, and to do what he wants to do (naturally) in a short amount of time is unrealistic to be even more honest. To each his own...

Mike have checkout GNC centers or at a local RiteAid they carry GNC supplements and they are Legal. Look into Ribb-amino Fuel forget actual name but its a fat burner,PowerBars and also Met-Rix. I wouldn't use Hydroxcut but thats my opinion. Have him do a routine along with a strict Diet and the supplements he would take, all GNC products are taken orally. Watch the food intake proportions, cut down or stop drinking pop because it dehydrates the body. Have him do a 30min cardo-weights, switch up on them do more Reps for lighter wieght and less reps. on heavier. After the 30 min cardo-weight training, he should his MMA routine. Rest/sleep is also part of it too..

Since you mentioned he lives in California this other site maybe of use its close to Cali http://www.myspace.com/teamapocolypseinc

Thanks guys, I am pretty much just forwarding all of this to his email he gave me.

You guys have supplied me with good info thus far.

I talked to him again late last night, and he said he talked to a trainer, and they told him that he could take a injection steroid 3-4 cycles or something at the beginning of each month, and he would still clear his tests at the end of the month, but he does not want to risk it.

I mentioned to him about the link I posted above. From what I can research on them, its a capsole that is a steroid I think. They make capsole's and anabolic injection's, the same company. Although I read injection would react quicker, the pills I guess, would do the same just with more time.

He states he is on a good diet and eats 6-8 times daily. Says he eats Fruit and a shake in the morning, nuts and cashews for snacks, lots of grilled chicken and franks red hott sauce, brown rice and raisins. I mentioned to him about eating Fish, and he said he has never found any fish that kept him coming back to it, haha.

He says he has taken the No Xplode before (i have too, good stuff to get you motivated) and he personally didnt get anything from it. He has never tried the Cellmass after a workout, but he says he does use Muscle Milk before bedtime. His other problem is he only gets about 6-8 hours of sleep every night.

I have told him all I know, so I will keep forwarding any info you guys can shoot me towards the subject.

He also says thank you.

So, if you have any more info, please join in.

Also, Foggy, I meant weeks as in like a 2 month period he says, not a one monther emoji

I'm with vegasdsmr.

Really the hardest part about it is eating clean. (NO ALCOHOL) The working out part is easy, and it really is a lifestyle. I go 4-5x a week, it just becomes a habit.

Training wise it really depends on what he wants to do. Working out for MMA is going to be more circuit training. Lots of reps one set right after another.

As for supplements, just make sure you take in a lot of protien. I find it hard to eat my bodyweight in protein every day. I drink a shake every day, usually after i work out. Pre workout I make an no-xplode/creatine drink and really thats about it.

You'll get better information from a bodybuilding or health forum like bodybuilding.com or johnstonefitness.com

I don't train hardcore for UFC or MMA but I train Brazilian JiuJitsu about 5-6 times a week. All of those are a game of short sprints not a marathon or all out speed. Like Demos said, he will definitely be wanting to do some quick rep sets. Work your muscles when they are tired and you want to give up. When some guy is pounding on his face and he just wants to stop cause his lil arms are sore.. he's going to wish he busted his ass a little harder in the gym.
I still do a lot of running and I know it helps with the longer sparring matches I have. Keeping your heart rate low and pacing yourself is of the utmost importance. My resting heart rate on most days (if I'm not doing an EC stack) is about 45-55, and it takes a lot to get to max heart rate (generically 220-age). A good High Intensity Interval training regime will do wonders for that kind of work also.

As for cutting I don't do anything illegal, and outside of straight amphetamines like adderall, ritalin, concerta not the "meth" you guys are thinking of he won't cut fast in a few weeks time. Also there is no way he's going to be losing weight and gaining strength at the same time.. just doesn't work like that. Let me reiterate here that I do everything mostly natural and the only supplements I take is protein of various forms, caffeine, ephedrine, sesamin, and potassium (since your going to be losing a lot of water weight it's a good idea to supplement potassium). If I come off a build cycle my strength is usually at it's prime, and for instance my individual bicep curl will be 70-75lbs. Once I start cutting your body looks for energy since your in a calorie deficit it will go to reducing "excessive" muscle mass first to lower your daily calorie needs then mostly stabilize. During that time the curl might go down to 55 or 60lbs. So let him know to expect a loss of strength and don't try to cut and rip at the same time.. just doesn't happen. It's possible to maintain almost the same weight and cut though, but gaining mass probably won't happen. Clean diet, great exercise, keep lifting the weights and TONS and TONS and TONS of protein and enough carbs in the morning to get your metabolism moving. I start with a bowl of straight oatmeal or granola.

Hopefully just some little tips and things to expect that might help out. I know some borderline legal shit but it will definitely take it's effects on you.. my buddy went to rehab for it and came back weighting 50lbs less... so be careful.
