Nice to see some people fell for it, others caught it and played along, and still others showed their true colors in the end. Those who fell for it, we hope you can look back at things and laugh with the rest of us. For those who caught it and played along, thanks for making our little prank even better. Liquorninja.com was awesome. I know we can always count on deej for the best in alternate links. (Just too bad his sig still links to that clown forum.)
For the record, these are my own thoughts and do not represent the official opinion of this site and/or it's staff.
First of all, I have the utmost respect for the Site Team at DSMtuners. Chris and his staff (technically, I'm staff as well) do a pretty damn good job of keeping what has to be the biggest DSM site on the planet running at no charge to its members. Despite the signal-to-noise ratio over there, I *know* it drives the staff crazy when they see misinformation or petty bullshit between members. Just as we face an increasing number of low rent, slack-ass retards over here, so do they.
Every two-bit half-wit out there who's ever heard about DSMs being fast wants to get one and thinks he's king shit because he's finally got one. Doesn't matter that he bought a ragged-out, $1000 husk of a DSM and that he's invested absolutely zero original thought or effort to make it fast. He's got it. He's here. And he's not going away (until he smokes it because he's a retard). It's a fact of life and it has nothing to do with the quality of information and organization of that community.
Here is the rub, though. I have nothing against DSMtuners at all, but they don't have their 2GNT sections up because they, as a rule, are remotely interested in 2GNT performance. Those sections are only there because Chris saw there were finally enough 2GNT owners over there to warrant such things. (He takes care of his community. What can I say?) Were all the 2GNT owners to unite and come home to 2GNT.com, I'm sure they would have no problem taking those sections down. As much as they, as legitimate DSMers, respect you and your goals, they have no desire (and no reason) to learn anything about your car.
On the other hand, this site was created just under ten years ago, to make damn sure there was a place where people who, for whatever reason, picked up a non-turbo DSM had a place to share ideas and tech without that information being diluted by the random, clueless poseur with a 4G63. We're all DSMers. We all stick together, but this website is here because we, as a community, sincerely care about your project and we genuinely want to see you succeed. If a prettier forum interface is more important to you, then by all means, take your shallow ass the fuck over to Tuners and wait for our tech to get to you over there.
You see, it's not so much that I have anything against Tuners. Quite to the contrary, actually. My issue is people taking this site - why it exists, how it's run, and what goes into it - for granted because they're more interested in a flashy interface. Form follows function. This site has the substance you need to achieve the dreams you have for your 2GNT. Seriously. If you can't figure out how to post on here or how to get the answers to your questions on this site, those of us who know what we're doing when it comes to DSMs - on both sides of the fence - just can't see how in the hell you are going to do anything other than post more mindless, off topic bullshit and cry when we don't drop everything to spoon feed you the information you're too damn lazy to even attempt to find for yourself. (Go ahead. Give me another excuse.)
To those few, upstanding folks that throw some cash our way each year - either donation or sponsorship - we thank you most sincerely. To those who can feel what this place is really all about - we hope you remain active and seek us out so that we can make sure you get to fully enjoy all the benefits this community has to offer for the long haul. To those who think there is better elsewhere - I hope you find what you're looking for.
