I was under the impression that over seas 2GNT's used an N/A version of the 4G63. That would make that swap less impressive.

Did anyone notice the front bumper? Is that the way they come stock over seas?

no and even if its an oversees car, the same amount of work still is required to get the car to work with an evo motor. harnesses and all still need to be changed ect.

Non usdm 2Gs still got the 4G63 in them. As such, they also had the Mitsubishi transmission, axles, ECU and harnesses. So it's basically pulling one 4G63 out and putting another one in. Hardly impressive.

One thing is for sure, though. As is ALWAYS THE CASE, just because you found a picture somewhere on the web of an Evo engine in a 2GNT, doesn't mean that we're all wrong for telling you that you can't do it.

And besides, it would still be FWD, which is on the weak side.

EDIT:
Oh shit. I think that last comment was my first, truly 4G63 asshole play. Damnit! emoji

If that was sooo easy.. really B' think about the fact that they are longitudinally different. A DSM 4g63 had it's cam gears on the driver side..
not really the case here.. now is it? Oh, how weekend of a project that is.. huh driggsy..

I was thinking the same thing possibly a bit harder to get it to fit but easier to get it to run if it originally had a 4g63 from a DSM in it.

Of course on this point, I 100% agree with Driggs. Sure it looks like it's bolted in and buttoned up all nice, but who the hell knows if the thing even starts let alone runs reliably.

Regardless, for the cost and still being fwd (at least I'm assuming it is) I'd much rather just build up the original 420a then waste the money/time on an evo motor when that can be used towards building your motor trans to high heaven and making just as much useless power

EVO IX - just a really expensive boost gauge and a K&N air filter

I look at it like this I have a GST it has the 4g63 in it the car cost me 1500 to build it to running condition. I can make up the 50-60 hp difference with boltons and tuning.

And for my RS 2.4 turbo should get it in the same field.

We will build you bigger and stronger

Wake up and drive my ass... More like wake up and fix it.
